Description
This a another one from the collection entitled:
"Six Sixty Second Soul Songs", along with 'A Little Original Sin' and four others. They were all written and recorded in one 24 hour contiguous piece of time...
I used Beta Monkey Drum loops on this song, and Chris, who is the drummer who records all the stuff for the Beta Monkey loops, is going to use this song plus another of mine, on their website as an example of how their loops are used. Thanks Chris! Solid....

Lyrics
Super Soul Hero

I’m super bad and that is good
I’ve got fists of steel and a head of wood
I’m here to save you from your perilous plight
so don’t look at me funny, these ain’t my tights
I’m a super soul hero
her to save you from all these fools
I’m a super soul hero
there’s nothing that I can’t do
except fly, and run as fast as a train, and see though walls, or leap over planes,
I can’t pick up buildings, I’m not very strong
but I have a nice costume..... huh?....
I’m a super soul hero
I’m a super soul hero

Very Funky
You've done it again. This is soooo super-bad!!! As usual, smart, interesting, funny lyrics with musicianship and production tighter than pantyhose two sizes-too small. I just wish it were longer. (what else is new? You're such a tease.) But as they say, it's better to leave them wanting more.

My brotha!
Hey Slash!
You've been really most excellent with your candied compliments of my music! Thank you my brotha!
I think I will try to a little expando to all of the sixty second songs, except one... One of them I will have to re-write... it's not one I've posted because the melody was a unconscious lift from a,.... wait for it.... yes, a Gloria Estafan song! The whole time I thought I was writing one of those "Hotter Than July" Stevie Wonder like tunes - the Gloria Estafan melody resemblance was pointed out to me by, let's see, everyone who heard it....!
Thanks again!

Man, I bet there's some more story line from that day. Seriously, Spike, you spread the jam like smuckers only wished. Super smooth is what I hear. Any chance you'll blow this one up to full version? Such a tease.

Jam...
I think I might just have to blow these up and get some of my fellow MJ-er's out there to lay down some tasty solos...
It was a fun 24 hours. - and this is something I've done now every month for over two years.... I belong to a music lodge where we individually take one 24 hour period and write and record 6-20 songs. Then we get together on another date, eat tasty snacks and share what we created. We've done 26 lodges so far... I've learned so much, and gotten so much better at writing, singing, playing, engineering, producing, etc.... When you force yourself to do something, under a deadline that seems impossible, and then actually come out alive on the other end with a few audio treats - it's a pretty empowering feeling. I recommend everyone start a lodge where they live - highly intoxicating!

Damn son!
"I say, I say my head is getting bigger than a blimp from all your kind words! Pretty soon I'll be floating down the street in the Macy's Day Parade and little kids will point up in the sky, and with fear in their face ask who the giant head with the tiny body is..."

Sidekick?
We'll need to come up with a side kick how about:
Super Soul Hero and The Funky Kid...
They would go around putting the funk and soul back into life.
Taking the sticks out of overly white peoples butts, making sure everything has a deep and funky groove, showing people the righteous and groovy way!
It's a hit!
(Uh-oh, I think I'm going to be sick...)

Brilliant!
Maudlin Squad!? You're killing me here! That is freaking brilliant!
That is SO a name of a band, or should be.
That's even better than, Shirley Temple of Doom.
Thanks for your kind words. I always appreciate your descriptive ways...
Maudlin Squad... killing me... There's an entire body of work you could devote to a band name like that. Too bad The Cure didn't get a hold of that one first...

This takes me back. Wayyy back.
Supergroovy, man! Love that syncopated funk, and them vox from '75. In the extended version, a superfunky guitar solo would be the icing. Some brass couldn't hurt, too, heheh. Really nice sound, I.!

Right you are.
Thanks Vortex dude!
I think you are correct that there should be a tasty guitar solo in the extended version...
Do you think there are a few guitar mavens floating around MJ's that could kill it...? I think there just might be.....
Do I here any volunteers?

BM!
Thanks Neil. I a big fan of real humanoid drummers, but it can get expensive to hire them, plus you have to have all those mics and cables... That's why I dig BM! The sounds that BM makes are just fantastic. (Wait, that didn't sound right...)

Now, THAT'S what I'm talkin about!

I really needed to hear something like that after my long, downtempo workday. Brilliant! The backing vox are so tight, I can't even figure out how many of them there are... which is one of (for me, anyway) the most consistently excellent things about your tunes: every element is perfectly pitched to fit the song. You are a craftsman, not to mention a historian (hysterian?), of the highest order.
I doff my Kangol to you, sir.

For some great reason, I've got an image of one of those Schoolhouse Rock songs that used to come on in the morning during cartoons - and this would be the star of one of those cartoons - singing about something besides math, vocabulary or American history. Sorry, you carried me away there for a moment and the song's over, I'm still typing. LOL! All that to say that I totally got into this because it's funky great!

Short and sweet and oh so funky. I'm glad we could hook up when we did, I'm just starting realizing the extent of your tallent. You have the ability to write in a broad range of musical styles and genres, and you're able to keep a good sense of humor about it. I think this song is a perfect example of this. Keep em coming bro!
