Description:
moment of truth or better known as the devil made me do it. the beginning is a little nod to "the who ". just guitars.

Lyrics:
Moment of Truth

devil on the shoulder
angel in the mind
just a little of both
a touch of ying and yang
just a little good
just a little bad
you devil you

pre chorus

you can run
you can hide
it's only a matter of time

chorus

in the moment of truth
someone is watching over you
someone is judging you
moment of truth

call of the sirens
lure with their songs
fairy tales and dreams
what's right or wrong
just a little fling
just a little fun
see you soon

pre chorus

you can run
you can hide
it's only a matter of time

chorus

in the moment of truth
someone is watching over you
someone is judging you
moment of truth

if there was the money
for a diamond ring
would you give the finger
spend the night gambling
roll with the punches
roll with the punches
will you take me back

pre chorus

you can run
you can hide
it's only a matter of time

chorus

in the moment of truth
someone is watching over you
someone is judging you
moment of truth

bright shiny halo
above those horns
something is sticking
like a bunch of thorns
do you get the point
when the man is sticking it to you

pre chorus

you can run
you can hide
it's only a matter of time

chorus

in the moment of truth
someone is watching over you
someone is judging you

repeat and rinse

You never disappoint friend. I really enjoyed this. Your vox has gotten under my skin lately and I find myself listening to your tunes in my head when I'm at work. Love the Harrison-esque leads. Great song about conscience. Suddenly I feel a bit guilty!

Be well!

your secret is safe with me, i won't tell. it seems mandatory to get the harrison slide you have to play the second part a 5th higher. couldn't come up with lyrics until last night. so my conscience was getting a little guity because the song has been sitting here for a week.
Thanks Bro

opps. somehow my response ended up down there

I may have to try that second-part-5th-higher technique the next time I attempt a slide.

Funny thing about lyrics. What you describe is almost always the case with me as well. I get a concept or a phrase in my head; it "germinates" for a few days, and then comes spewing out all at once as it were. I've gotten to the point where I prefer it that way...

oops! (note spelling) Somehow MY response ended up down there!

Yeah... &mdash 04/01/07 - 08:43:44 PM
It's as if the songs already exist out in the "ether" somewhere and we somehow are selected to channel certain ones. To me they often seem like they write themselves and I'm just tagging along for the ride!

Another great one Vic - &mdash 03/31/07 - 02:26:19 PM
I think I hear some of your backwards experiments in the beginning. Really like the Who tribute - sweet. The delay leads are awesome - as well as the little Harrison slides - MSL. It's all too much!

won't get fooled again &mdash 03/31/07 - 04:40:58 PM
the beginning is actually a volume pedal with delay & reverb. originally i did some backward stuff but dumped it. added guitar synth filter effects and played those in real time. the music i did last sunday. couldn't think of any lyrics untill last night. that was my moment of truth!

How much... &mdash 03/31/07 - 03:00:36 PM
...do I love this song art? I REALLY love this song art.

This is a really incredibly catchy song and, if I were on my own computer, I'd definitely download it. As it is, I think I'm going to have the phrase "moment of truth," rolling around in my head for a while.

I'm hearing some peaking in my left ear, probably from the bass, because when it drops out, the peaking stops.

I can definitely hear George Harrison, but also some Police, too, especially, "Someone to Talk To." Very cool.

the title has benn running through my head all week and was totally stumped on lyrics all week. i hadn't thought of the polce but i hear now what your saying. originally i was thinking early XTC. thanks for catching the bass, i think my ears are shot this morning. i added a bass plug in on the track. i'm sure that's the culprit. to much low end.

Thanks for taking the time out to listen and comment, most appreciated.

Mystery and Insinuation laces the intrumentaion. Impending. Promise.

It may be dB Drop Off (ears) but, a Double on the Vox would really pump me up.
I'll run it through Tunes (usually revives many frequencies) to see if my Alzheimers of the Ears can get this straight.

Energy reminds me of the Clever writers of pre-metal accomplishments. Very Cool.

Compliments,
Coop

Mystery and Insinuation laces the intrumentaion. very poetic!

The bass plug in may be a little hot in the mix down. i'll have to wait til my ears stop ringing to adjust.

the lyrics came in a flash. had those written in under 1/2 hour. couldn't come up with a thing for a week.

Thanks for the listen comment and listen!

...a dynamite track. very tasty slide bit, too. one day, i'll get there. i guess i should practice more often first. if only there were 30 hrs in a day :)
i love the composition. everything seems well balanced. the vox fit perfectly! an instant fav!

i'm pleased you like this. the backing track i did in one day. must of been spring fever with the sun out. i hadn't played slide hardly at all for years. now that i'm doing it a little more i'm finding it enjoyable. there never is enough time in a day anymore, it's that work thing that always gets in the way.

Thanks for taking the time to listen!

.. love the layering of the jangly electrics with the
acoustic. Awesome fat sound. Vocals (especially the FX) and overall sound was more reminiscent of The Kinks to me. Who? ;o)

In short, I love this. Off for another listen. Kudos.

intro, flairs throughout this... one more installment of the world of nostalgic rock according to the Vicster. Of course you not only give a nod to the guitar work of the Who... but "who" else? Georgie H. : )
Love it.

that sooner or later the style is going to be in vogue. actually i'm hearing new bands finding that out and are starting a trend. maybe nuevo-old, now that's a new music gendre that we need here!

Very 60's sound, Great lyrics and guitar work, the vocals are spot on, I like the prechorus its hooky and familiar at the same time original.
I agree with ledeb, the song is catchy!

i'm riding it out sometimes thinking the 60's and 70's will merge and come back around for a repeat performance. hooks and all.

Thanks again Tom!

...where have I been? Gotta put you on my faves list.

Great playing/songwriting/lyrics/vocals/production.

Music works so well with the lyrics. Love the picture. I'm a 50s addict.

"Brighty sunny halo above those horns"...

Classic...

Ok, I know you've heard this before, but you sound so much like George Harrison. I think the guitar in this only accentuates that fact, haha!
I enjoyed this one!

okay i admit it. i've been in a harrison phase. i studied how he would do chord progressions and of course the slide. and it rubbed off. all good.

Thanks for the listen! appreciated very much.

fun song! &mdash 04/07/07 - 11:23:15 AM
hey! great song! really catchy and fun.
and its got this whole Beatles-esque thing going on!
i dont really know much about George Harrison's guitar style.
so i cant say if your guitar sounds like him. but as a whole,
your song has the similar charms that Beatles has, i think!

thank you very much &mdash 04/07/07 - 02:11:42 PM
i'm pleased that you liked this. funny thing is when I start out recording a song it doesn't sound like how it ends up. i grew up on Beatle records, so that why this ended up that way. Harrison a ex-Beatle ws known for his slide guitar work. probably most notable "my sweet lord"

Thanks again for taking the time out to listen!

Another Gem &mdash 05/11/07 - 12:18:15 AM
Really good song, with fantastic sounding guitars and production. Loved the George Harrison influenced lead. You are one of a kind in your guitar production. I can't compliment you enough, so I'll quit there.

I have two suggestions.

First one is to edit some of the words from your lyrics. It seems that you frequently have too many syllables for your melody line and with fewer words you could enhance the "hook." I'm only talking about a word on one or two lines. It would also allow you to focus on your singing. One example is to cut the "it's" from the "it's only a matter of time line." Also drop the "in" from the "in the moment of truth."

The other suggestion is to develop some of your melodies a little more. You spend an incredible amount of time on your production, which is great, but try to enhance some of the hook material within your melodies. It is very rich vein of material that could yield further gems. Just my 2 cents.
