He's baaaaaaaaaaack! &mdash 03/31/07 - 06:17:53 PM
...and sounding better than ever! Glad you're still with us!

And now the music: THIS IS A GEM! The music and production are wonderful and remind me just a little of OYSTERBAND. Excellent lyrics and your vocal delivery is lovely and spot on. I hope you'll stick around this time Peter. Abundant kudos!

Be well!

I really loved this one and was singing along by my second listen..."Motorwaaaaaaaaaay." The playing and songwriting are both really tight and your vocal is relaxed and controlled, perfect for the song. I'd love it if you'd post the lyrics.

I could really imagine Morrissey singing this (and having a great big old hit with it, too).

Good song Peter &mdash 03/31/07 - 09:37:42 PM
Ah the good old M25! Great sounding guitars and vox, and terrific song-writing. The production isn't too shabby either!. Lyrics would be good, as I think some of our non-English speaking friends might miss some nuances ;) The guitar duet sounds excellent. I really like the tempo you've picked for this.
Cheers,
Neil

Glad you enjoyed this. The song lyric came about because the beat and tempo had a driving feel to it - although I rarely reach that sort of speed on the section of the M25 motorway I travel on!

Hey pete &mdash 04/01/07 - 07:40:35 AM
... I share your pain, man! This has a great feel, kinda REM guitar which I love, with a folk lilt to it.

Your voice reminds me of someone, can't quite place it, but I like the fact that you're singing in your own accent.

The track actaully reminds me of the Blue Aeroplanes ... remember them?

Nice production, and lovely guitar playing - great work!

REM! &mdash 05/24/07 - 05:36:49 AM
Yes, my guitar style is a bit REM (not that I have a problem with that) - I'm not trying to copy them - it's just a natural picking patern for me. I remember the name 'Blue Aeroplanes' but don't recall their music - I'll have to check them out. Thanks for listening.

Hi Peter! &mdash 04/02/07 - 12:52:37 AM
This sounds really good, I like your voice. I'll probably have this melody ringing around my head as I'm travelling to work along the M62 (not quite as bad but near enough at times).
So glad Amagi sent me an email about you. will check out more later
Thanks again

Gridlock blues! &mdash 04/14/07 - 05:01:29 AM
Nice track Peter...reminds me musically of Robyn Hitchcock/Peter Buck collaboration (I think they worked together on a recent album..my mate got to see them live and meet them in Norwich a few weeks back). Its good that you are tackling society's annoyances in your writing...picking up the baton from the much missed UK MJ artist El Topo!

I was stuck on the M25 today for ages - All the alternate routes were just a bad. What a journey! At least it gave me time to listen to some CDs... Thanks for listening.

Paths Crossed &mdash 06/12/07 - 06:49:22 PM
Although we're on different continents, I keep crossing paths with you in so many ways. I agree with the REM/Peter Buck comments and the Robyn Hitchcock too. I also heard Mike Oldfield in the leads at the very end of the song. How bizarre is that?

More than any comment posted before mine, I think that ledebutant really heard what I heard in this entire tune. I really thought it was a Smiths tune that just turned up. Enough comparisons. It's a wonderfilled song. Every element has a real significance that would hurt the song if it weren't there.

This is such a great song and I'm so glad our paths crossed again.

I'm glad you enjoyed this one - another one of my rants! I'm flattered with all the comparisons - I guess you get influenced by so many people in one way or another... I really like both REM and The Smiths and jangly guitar music in general - always like that aspect of Mike Oldfield's work too. Hope our paths cross again.

Peter

And there are even more roadworks on the M25 Motorway - for 70 weeks...!

I've been singing this all week.. &mdash 06/15/07 - 06:54:18 AM
.. and I love it. Though I sing it in a country twang (I've no idea why as I'm from Buckinghamshire). Terrific song and the instrumentation is beautiful. I'd love a go at recording a vocal for this.

Nice to see this is sticking with you - I'm a sucker for a catchy tune! I'm sure I could sort out the backing track (although I'm not sure at what stage I mixed the vocals in) as a wav file if you're interested in doing your own thing with it. I recorded it my Boss 16-track, so I'm a bit limited as to what I can do with it (I could do a 320kb MP3 which would be e-mailable). I assume the WAV file is about 50mb so I'd have to burn it on a disc - but I'm happy to do so. Send me an e-mail if you're interested.

Thanks, Peter

Great 'road music' &mdash 09/24/07 - 11:17:29 AM
The jangly guitars work well for me in this piece. Good pacing, singing and production. This is a tune that sticks with you. Thanks for sharing it.

Will the M25 ever increase its traffic flow or is it all downhill from here?

[ Reply to This ]
I think &mdash 09/24/07 - 12:51:02 PM
whatever they do we'll be stuck with endless traffic jams - the amount of traffic here in Dartford is awful most of the time. Anyway, I picked what I thought was a suitable tempo and a repetitive beat for this and I'm pleased with how it worked out - the lyrics very much relate to my journey to and from work. Thanks for listening.

I appreciate you checking this one out - I found a very rough instrumental recently that I turned in to this - the drum track very much gave me the inspiration for the rest.

I love jangly, guitar pop music. This was one of those songs that I did a 'very' rough demo of to listen to in car - it just sounded like a 'driving' track to me. I think it's a bit hypnotic too. If only driving on the M25 could match the tempo - the roadworks on the stretch I use should be finished this year!

Thanks as ever for listening to my 'oldies'.
