Description:
this is a piece by Drakonis called Ember. I messed around with the files a bit, and this is what I came up with. There is still something wrong with my keyboard, so this is what I was able to do with some loops I made, new software instruments, and the keybooard and
my mouse in GB.
check out his version, it's really pretty. after I get my keyboard up and running i will probably have another go at this one. I keep hearing it as a David Bowie "Low" type of piece:
http://www.macjams.com/song/13185
the artwork is from google images. all of the pics I use come from there; what I do is type in the first word of the song and see what comes up.
Hardware:
Intel Mini-Mac,
Software:
Audacity (to reverse a loop I made), Itunes (my song i stole from is stored in iTunes), GB, Outlook (Drakonis emailed the file to me)

hyper low bass in there - nice!
i'm sitting in a chair, falling asleep, but still aware, and the last red glow in the fireplace is slowly fading away... i'm not sure if i am still seeing the logs, or only the memory of the logs... and i can still smell that hickory smoke flavor - it's been a good day. a very good day.
& i like the chirpy sounds

chirps ahoy &mdash 03/31/07 - 08:18:57 PM
the chirps were the Eve soft synth run through a bit crusher, and some echo. I really like the Eve, haven't sat down and really played with it, but I have found some cool analog sounds on it. In real life I am an old Roland guy, (well that and my trusty CZ-1), but this thing is pretty sweet (and free). sorry i don't have the addy, but google it.
who knows what that picture is of. i thought it was purty. [ Reply to This ]
Way out there... &mdash 03/31/07 - 08:07:55 PM
The only way to detect these outer-space sounds would be to hook up the EM260 integrated circuit, shown above, with a massive radio-telescope antenna. The crystal would have to be replaced, though, with a much lower frequency, around 68 Hz. :-)
This is very cool, imaginative and unique... I like it! You've slowed it some, which gives it a large ponderous feel, and the instruments chosen are nice (love the sub-bass.) The twittering effect started out really nicely, since it was sparse... when it got very busy and twittery, it was a little distracting, I would suggest other variations/sounds as embellishments interspersed as well.
Nice work here, and congratulations on becoming a new dad AND whipping out a nice Ember collab, all with a broken keyboard!

Really cool Ember... &mdash 04/02/07 - 10:10:54 PM
Deep Space sound, with Memories of Birds. ;-) On my 3rd listen, I like it a lot. :-) [ Reply to This ]

wow, that bass is deeeep. This left me staring at the fire's embers way long past the end of the tune. Superb. Deliciously wet. Wonderful use of space. [ Reply to This ]

Ahhh yes &mdash 05/01/07 - 12:46:15 AM
Warszawa.
But this sounds like its filtered through Before and After Science as played by Ryuichi Sakamoto

a new name. i'm not familiar with that artist, so i will definitely have to check them out. i do love all of the avant garde japanese electronic composers. there are so many multifaceted people in that genre.thanks for listening. [ Reply to This ]

Yes, I like this version a lot. It has a global communications feel to it. Long build-up, natural sounds fading in and out. Good one! [ Reply to This ]
Man..... &mdash 07/24/07 - 06:10:01 PM
.....that is subtle.
It's sad that my life is so fast paced these days that I find myself getting fidgety - instead of just sitting back quietly and drinking it all in, letting the music wash over me and feel that deep bass settle in my weary bones. [ Reply to This ]
don't &mdash 07/30/07 - 02:50:03 PM
