Description:
This is a song I wrote for my then fiance. It is an original piece written in a classical style. I composed on acoustic piano, and play it here live and in realtime using GB's piano sample. Luckily almost all of it fit on the 61 keys I had to work with. Trust me when I tell you this sounds much better on my acoustic grand piano. ;) Please comment! [I am always more interested in comments than votes. Thanks!]

If you hated this song, you'll probably equally dislike:

  • The Journey

How I love the sound of piano... even GBs, heheh!
Great work! I think the part where the synth really
established itself is with those quick cascading
scales (I suck at music jargon)... that's the only spot
where it felt "digital" to me. Of course, being the
computer geek I am, I would've loved to have heard
some strings or synths on this, perhaps only for fun,
y'know? Giving it that kind of Vangelis ambience. But
it works despite that,.... more of a suggestion than a
    recommendation.

Actually, I've asked a well-known MacJammer to take a stab at that very thing.
If it comes to fruition, we will share it with you! Thanks for the great
comments! (BTW, I agree with you!)

The piece is definitely a study in arpeggios, a technical device I do well and
    hence use a LOT. LOL

This piece is very nice and you've definitely put plenty of emotion into the playing of it. It would sound even better using the Steinway Grand Soundfont that's floating around. If I can find the link for it, I'll post it.

I would love that, THANKS! I think if I could get my hands on a good 88 key
controller too, I could smooth it out just a touch more, as it sounds on my
real piano. Something about that spongy synth keyboard just isn't conducive
    to natural piano playing... :)

Here it is... http://www.wstco.com/pianosounds/freesoundfont.htm Once its
loaded you'll probably want to reduce the reverb in the DLS window.

I'm going to figure this out (never used soundfonts before), and let you know
how it works out. Thank you!

    Beautiful, serene, emotional.
Calm and soothing. It's almost 5 am and I can't sleep due to a sick 2 yr. old.
Your song soothed my tired, aching brain.

    very nice classical style &mdash 08/15/04 - 09:51:26 PM
You get a good sound on the GB piano!

The general volume level was too low during the first half
    of the song.

The quick arpeggios in the middle sounded a bit rushed
and percussive -- let that stuff BREATHE!

Nice writing in general, great tonalities, rather Chopin-
    esque.

    Great job overall!
