Lyrics
My cell phone lay quiet
and electronic tomb
that holds my last hope of hearing from you
And I should have known it's never right
A drunken promise late at night
But I had wanted and needed it to be true

Now I'm standin by
Wastin time and I can't get you off my mind
Why haven't you called?

You've got some unfinished business
Stands about six foot one
He's a perfect speciment of no good for anyone
And he let you down so many times broke your heart with stupid lies
But still you miss him cause he's hooked in your system

Now I'm standin by
Wastin time and I can't get you off my mind
Why haven't you called?

Pick up the phone, leave him alone
That's all it takes to start anew
and you might fall, you never know if this is the one
and it's all up to you
there's nothing I can do.

But you know I'm standin by
Wastin time and I can't get you off my mind
Why haven't you called?

Nice!
Clear expressive singing, nice song, good lyrics, clean recording, great job all around.

Im writing because I'm curious about the guitar. I don't have headphones but I've got a pretty good set of speakers on either side of my head and I have to ask how you got that cool ambient sound. Is there a slight delay going on, or did you actually record the guitar part twice and pan them hard left and right. 'Cause if you did that, my hats off to you for consistent playing, 'cause that was no simple guitar part!

Either way, speaking of that guitar part, you have a creative and excellent harmonic sense. Very cool tune.

Guitar Recording
Brian,
Thanks for writing.
Yes, I did record the guitar part twice. Good ear! What's more is each take has two mics (near the sound hole)and the guitar's direct line out. Then it is blended and split.

Glad you like it!
