Description
As we are in the middle of Passover, Caroline & I thought it might be nice to contribute something for the occasion.
This collab has been under construction for over a year & now, we've finally done it!
Last year Caroline & I were chatting about the spiritual 'Let my People Go' & Caroline mentioned to me that she was teaching the song to a group of children as part of a Hebrew instruction class.
I suggested we write a 'modern' take.
This is how it was done- I asked Caroline to sing the song 6 times, free style, no metronome or tuning forks. Once I recieved the files, I had to splice each vocal track in order to make each track 'fit' into the GB BPM. In addition to some major editting I created a shoir of 12 voices + a solo line. Each vocal track was treated with the 'vox transformer' in order to create the harmonies. In the meantime, I was trying to figure out how I'd arrange the accompaniment. Unfortunately, my poor iBook's RAM was taking a major hammering once the vocals were complete, so I created 3 4 part choirs, exported them into iTunes & imported them into a new GB template, onto which I could add the instrumentation.
I ended up with various templates & settled on this one. A kinda 'ragga-esque' dancy number.
I'd like to send out a huge 'Thank You' to Ian Baird, who kindly gave me some advice with the mixing of the vocal tracks. Ian, you're a champion!
Many Thanks to the luverly Caroline who (by now) knows this song very well ;)
Peace to All!

Alf, I would just love to have your imagination and humor for about two weeks. I'll give it back, I promise! You're not kidding about Alfalpha being a piece of hardware; you're a bit of a secret weapon.
Caroline sounds absolutely great on this. I think it's one of my favorite Caroline vocals(ssssssssss), actually.
This is a wonderful rendition of this song and it transcends the novelty factor, completely. It doesn't matter how you made it, just that it's tremendously listenable and very, very mesmerizing. I've downloaded and I'm sending a big pat on the back to the two of you.
