Description
The mix is about my current job, my feelings about the job, the time I seem to get up 5 days of the week, the reference (with the brass section) that the job is in Grimethorpe, the home of a famous brass band, and my thoughts on the ambivalence of the two 'cultures' of Barnsley and Sheffield, only 20 miles apart but both have different dialects of English for some of the most basic everyday words, sometimes gelling together and sometimes bouncing off of opposite walls to each other, hence the sometime synchronisation between the Triphop Tabla rhythm
and the electric guitar towards the end.

See what you think.

There will be a full brass band piece, nearer Chrimbo, to set off my Christmas Carol. The piece will be a proper, full version of the snippit in this mix.

very creative - lovely brassy sounds at the beginning, would quite like to hear an actual clock sample in the middle with all the whirring and ticking but thats just because I'm something of a clock freak - I have a thing especially for cuckoo clocks.Makes me wander what the job is you do though.I've never been to those places though I've always been quite a John Shuttleworth fan - I think he's from that neck of the woods..

John Shuttleworth......
He's from Walkley, which is an area of Sheffield I know very well. I grew up down the hill from there but that tells you little as Sheffield is full of hills!!

My job is network/systems administrator at SASH Windows Ltd in Grimethorpe, a very Victorian neck of the woods. If you visited the Viking Centre in York you'll have pretty much the same effect if you travel down the hill from the motorway into Grimethorpe!!

Time fascinates me although I've smashed a good few alarm clocks against walls in my time. It's not the ringing (I swear) but the incessant 'TICK' then 'TOCK'!!

The brass sound is off of a 'Performance Soft Synth' called SuperWave Performer, which has tons of bits and sounds and comes without a manual, so if you like a puzzle to obtain sounds I'd recomment it. I've not even touched the surface of what can be done with it.

I might put a clock sound in to check the overall effect. It's a good idea.

Take care.

Paul.

I enjoy creating music using computers and 'synthesized' as opposed to 'real' instruments. I have no problem using samples/loops in my music. Everyone does this every time they work with a track. I don't fit in any box and thoroughly enjoy working ou... [see more]

Genre Info
Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
