Keywords:
Past (11)memories of a neat past experience (1)adventure in pleasant memories of long ago (1)
Description:
I added a bit of orchestration to the original.

I wanted to change the picture a bit and go somewhat in the direction with Roxy's comment on the first version:

"Well I never been to Spain, but I really like the music. :-) I closed my
eyes and let it take me to one of my special memories. I was 20 and
crewing on the sloop Clearwater. While in full sail on the Hudson, I
climbed the nearly 100 foot mast. What an adventure that was! This
tune has a sense of adventure like that day held for me. "

Very pretty, full of balanced depth, drawing on several styles, and so patiently played with wonderful separation and technique. Your gentle synth strings are subtle and offer an excellent backing to the harmonics of the guitar strings; my favorite of all your orhectrations to date. Very well mixed. A marvelous recording. Quiet waters, lush shorelines, a place where memories and musings meet.

It was one of the pieces that helps relax me when I am too tense. So I thought I would add a bit to it. I was interested in Roxy's comment about it. So I thought I would elaborate on it.

The tiler is back! The orchestration was nice but it just serves as a bnackdrop to your beautiful steel string. So nice to hear those strong, clear tones coming at us again!

Like the breath of the morning breeze, starting the day early... wonder what the day will bring.

Very confident performance. Just the right amount of strings to enhance to the mood.

Bill! You're back! &mdash 04/11/07 - 08:39:39 PM
It's feast or famine with you, sir... Either five tunes a week or gone for months... Welcome back...

I don't remember the first version of this one, but it is indeed nicely played, well articulated, and very nicely orchestrated.

It's good to hear the Tiler sound again!

Ed

Man, where you been? &mdash 04/11/07 - 09:58:23 PM
I've been running on empty... needed just the right tiler fix... and this hits the spot perfectly. Enough cannot be said.... you are a master of the fretboard and the finger picking of strings on the guitar. I hope all is well with you... did you move? Kudos on the song.

Great to see you back Bill! &mdash 04/11/07 - 10:22:17 PM
This track is a really good showcase for your indisputable talents on the guitar. Very soothing use of strings, and some beautiful playing. Your skill in recording Betsy is still among the very best acoustic guitar recording here at MJ.
A really enjoyable listen. It really is good to see you post another tune my friend!
Cheers,
Neil

Wonderful... &mdash 04/12/07 - 10:07:43 PM
...I was at a few of those Clearwater concerts, sir. Fantastic times. Met Arlo. That must have been awesome on the sloop!

Guitar playing sounds great. Love the spare orchestration. Compliments the picking very nicely.

man what a touch you have. the orchestration was brilliant. sweet and subtle. that mix is as vast as the vistas in the picture. come to think of it, the superimposed hand is the strings. i'm getting the visuals tonight. bravo..d'l'd and pod'd

Just the right touch &mdash 07/09/07 - 03:12:29 PM
I love the subtle and gentle orchestration that lets the guitar remain front and center, but matches its power and emotion. This piece has a bit of a dark side to it that makes it especially interesting to me. The harmonics used as punctuation are wonderful.

'When Johny comes marching home* is very special very strong a definate fav of mine among yours. I have a memory to of trying to sail with an oldoldold 2masted 17meter sailship which was renovated by some Norwegian ppl in/outside Bergen(beautiful city on the coast of Norway)They sailed it down to Oporto in Portugal where I joined...but too late in the season for continuing to CanarieIslands as was the plan, we were stuck in Oporto for a month then tried to sail but ended up in a harbour north of where we were after 12(or was it 24)hours storm...We were so lucky noone was washed into the sea it was veryvery close.before I joined when they sailed over the BiscayaSea they one nite actually hit a whale Unbelievable I know, they only saw the tail after the hit - Again so lucky...nothing ruined !
Best memories are Oprto a greatgreat city with great Pepole this is back in1983 when I was 23 ! I love Portogal hope to go back one day: ) Wow Your songs certainly are full of memories I can hear that..

ThankYou my pleasure Helena
