Keywords:
drinking beer in an indie dive bar with a cute girl in glasses (1)indie rock (28)lo-fi (34)corduroys and thrift store t-shirts (1)party had to end sometime (1)alternative (241)pop (459)indie-poop (1)endlessly touring in a broken down van (1)those are the only chords i know (1)playing for free beer and gas money (1)
Description:
More pop from the ro-tools session with Scott on drums and Io on bass and backups. This is a really pop song, with a little nastier guitars, and 2 bridges instead of 1 (but it's still short and sweet).

Lyrics:
everything's brighter in the morning sun
that's what i've been told
might take some time, but you get what you need
that's what i've been told

(chorus)
how can you feel so blue today
everything looks right as rain
how can you feel so blue today
everything looks right as rain

you can lie through your teeth, you can have a parade
i'll try not to judge
i was a pawn and a tool and a stooge
i do what i'm told

(chorus)
how can you feel so blue today
everything looks right as rain
how can you feel so blue today
everything looks right as rain

(bridge)
thoughtless, spiteful
the point is nothing really matters
anxious, faultless
i can be anything i want to

ooh ee ooh ee ooh ee ooh
ooh ee ooh ee ooh ee ooh

i can be cold, i can linger in bed
and then i can forget
you take what you want and you say what you need
i know, we can be friends

(chorus)
how can you feel so blue today
everything looks right as rain
how can you feel so blue today
everything looks right as rain

(bridge)
thoughtless, spiteful
the point is nothing really matters
anxious, faithful
i can be anything i want to
gracious, jealous
there's always gotta be a motive
thoughtless, faultless
i can look bad in the morning

I am gald that an artist like you have joined MJs this is good stuff. What I like is the singing and structure of the song. I think if the tempo was up just a hair it woould realy kick! just constructive critisism. Overall great song

a modern take of a classic, but better. some cars sound as well. great bridge to add some addition drive. great tunage! really great!

Another strong, solid track. Wonderful stuff. I agree with egobandit about the tempo; making it faster would also make it sound slightly more contemporary. That last stanza is really great.

sometimes i latch onto things for the smallest reasons. This songs gives me about a million of them. esp the little synth hooks (great patch). you write such great songs. they're all about real life with just the right mix of hook and pathos.

kind words. i really like the synth that I used on that song. it's a Roland JX3P. classic early 80's silliness. it's actually not been feeling well lately, and I need to get it worked on. they are really cheap actually (I paid like $200) and are polyphonic and MIDI (pretty stone-age, but it's still MIDI), but are kind of worthless without the optional controller (so you can work the oscillators and don't get stuck with the Howard Jones sounding pre-sets). Thanks so much for popping in.

Loved the upbeat temple. I'm not exactly an expert on the subject but the true test of an great artist is the ability to mix it up instead of sticking to the same genre. Your music is so varied and dynamic, it's a sheer pleasure every time I stop by. Thanks!

Hi Michael &mdash 03/27/08 - 01:10:32 AM
2 that is
nice production and song-writing.
Your vocal has a hint of british invation-ism in it.
You have a real feel for pop when you want to.
Great listen.
