I wrote this for Mom & Dad's 50 years of Marriage. Mot vocals are my Brother Bill found here at MJs as william devine. I couldn't do the big sound he gives it so i did the back up stuff.

Thanks for checking in. I am glad you liked this song it is very close to my heart. My dad turns 80 in June and that makes Mom and Dad's marraige @ 55 years now. See how i do the math?
I remember my Mom crying cause me and billy use to fight so much, but when it comes to music we always enjoy each other very much. Its a place where we fit together and can have such fun.
Billy added the finger snapping and put an energy into the vocal that only he can belt out in like one take.
He's the best, I lways look up to him.

Thats a good idea and the acoustic bass sound would fit in with the original motif and sound I was first shooting for. Some how I got off the big band sound i was looking for and ended up with this funky bass...

Awesome work. What struck me immediately is that I could tell how much fun you had doing it. You captured the essance of a really entertaining performance. That's something I struggle with as I tend to nitpick everything (Damn classical training!!!!!). You've inspired me to try to loosen the bow tie and loosen up!

Nit picking is waht really kills me also. Its my brother that adds the live feel with his approach. I think he developed it when he had to sing over crowds in clubs n bar in the & 70's. He realy had the quality of an entertainer as well as a singer song writer and player.
The nit picking is what is defineing my style now that i am afraid to just post anything. i over work stuff and then put it on the shelf. There are so many good quality people here that i am fighting the fun vs the quality. Its not easy for me to lay down tracks that have... lets say a Tobin quality and so I shy away.
but we must seek out the audiance for our own styles.
Look at Neil Young and artist that arent great players that still have great music...although thru the years I have learned to think you don't have to be a polished player as long as the music is fun and in tune...
enough said? I'm rambling...

If you checked out my other stuff u will see its actually nothing like this and i was slow to put this one up.This my change things for me a bit. It has been so well recieved.

Every thing sounds right at the level they need to be. Very clean. Nice composition all around. I only have one suggestion. The finger snapping could have been placed strategically in parts of the song like the HOT SPOT part or maybe on the the second verse and then the last. But that is just a minor suggestion... it's a really solid song the way it is. Nice job

The finger snaps where Bill's idea and i don't question my big brother... he punished long and hard, years ago and let me know who's boss.LOL
He tossed in all the spice that makes this song great.

Very Nice!! Has a nice swing to it. I believe maybe that the horns could be panned out a bit. It kinda "bunches" up the sound when they come in. I would also try cleaning up the guitar sound, take of the delay and chours off and let it be more round and fat, a little more "jazz" sound is what I should say. Pull out that upright bass that everyone has in there closet (hehe). I think it would give it a "bigger" sound. Besides my 2 cents. Impressive, and personal. Overall I really enjoyed it. Your brother and you are very talented. You two need to collab more often. Hats off to both of you for a great song. I'm glad you shared this.

Hey Tim - this is one sweet little track you've put together here - funny and touching by equal turns. I agree with Leon - I can imagine you performing this live for the whole family.
This has a great swinging feel to it, and musically is spot on - it has a really classic feel to it - the chorus is fab.

... nice to hear that music runs in the family ... and that you can get together and put something like this together. (Is that too many togethers?) .... Anyway .. great tune ... sounded like you all had a great time making it ....
This is almost like looking through your photo album or something: it's intimate, personal stuff; I think it shows a lot of respect for the MJ community to post such a private piece.
It's pretty catchy, too: I can't get that "Hot Spot" chorus out of my head!
All in all, a lovely gesture and a very nice song.

Great sounds, great combination of brothers, this would work well on stage, 50 years married is that saphire or something, this performed would make a great anniversary present, sung all Fred Astaire top hat and tails. You sound very enthuastic and that you're having fun, which is very important. Fun and fantastic.

Hey, this is delightful... not only a noble cause to celebrate with music and thoughtful lyrics, but it turned out as a beautiful piece of music!
Funny, when preparing my own parents' 50th anniversary at our house, I wrote a little ragtime ditty for the video... and that turned into "Caroline's Bear Rag" here... so this 50th music of yours strikes a chord with me for other reasons too.
