Being scared... &mdash 04/15/07 - 11:17:35 PM
Of being human.

This is such an effective track, Bryn.

You know how to write music for words.
I'm always in awe...

Glad you posted this one here :)

A smashing production all around..... &mdash 04/16/07 - 01:09:40 PM
This mix is perfect in every respect, to me.

It has elements that belong to more than one genre and if the song had been placed in those other areas it would have been perfect there as well.

I'm 'virtually' bowing in your general direction.

Awed.

Paul.

Hi Paul &mdash 04/16/07 - 07:03:38 PM
Thanks again for the thoughtful comments.

I am curious...what are the other categories that you think this could belong to? (I find it hard to categorise myself except in some obvious circumstances)

Other genres.... &mdash 04/17/07 - 12:25:49 AM
I downloaded this track and left it running in a loop whilst I did other things on my computer. It came across as ideal for an introductory or other scene in a film where a mystery female was being interviewed in a hospital room or some openly intimate (i.e. fly on the wall) interview.

The track, even though on repeat, never got boring or made me want to turn it off, especially because the more I listened to the words the more I was intrigued by the person saying the words. It reminded me of a track from a good few years ago about some woman talking about 'fluffy clouds in Arizona'. The British accent also had me thinking. Lots of things had me thinking whilst listening to this piece.

I stopped doing whatever else I was doing to put 'phones on to listen more closely.....finally, many loops later I managed to hale a passer-by who shut off the power to the block of flats that I was in. Peace came.

It just seems to be 'bigger' than Macjams and should be a 'backdrop to a movie scene'.

I tried to be lucid whilst explaining, Bryn.

Smashing track.

Paul.

Cinematic Soundscape &mdash 04/19/07 - 10:53:52 AM
Yes, "Film Scoring", or "Cinematic Soundtrack" are definite considerations for genre(s). Nice use of sparceness and musical silence. The voice and synthetic vocal effects work well in the mix. The harp is heavenly, brought together by the excellent musical bed.

I often mention "musical interlude"... and I feel one is beckoning to be placed in here somewhere. Right smack in the middle. Perhaps with a key change?

mixed in with the words. Enjoyed the pic as well.
Like the float of the percussion going from ear to ear.
Interesting harp!

Really interesting &mdash 06/09/07 - 04:28:26 PM
I don't hear many of this kind of mix of words and music, but this is really interesting. It seems more personal because it's spoken instead of sung.
