Description:
Linda Courtien (Onesweetworld) posted a little acapella piece not so long ago. Although I notice that a few people applied that track to a tune they created .... one of them immediately caught my attention. A track called "Hold on to your Spirit Child" by Timothy Devine. (http://www.macjams.com/song/30279). My first impression was that the entire track was too low and that I could hardly hear Tim's voice on it .... my second thought was to download it and sing all over it !!!! (See the forum posting titled My Dirty Little Secret) ... well to make a long story short .... I liked this song so much I asked Tim to send me the files so I could tweak the volumes etc. and perhaps give it a little re-mix with my vocals added ... so here it is a renewed collaboration.

I fell in love with it instantly when I heard Tim Devine's version and just couldn't help myself in singing all over it ... and I truly felt that Tim's voice needed to be "heard" more!

... I believe that ALL I did was increase the volume .... HAHAHAHA I don't recall doing anything different with it .... BUT I might have added a STEREO effect when I transferred it into Adobe .... I recall part of it sounding a little too far left or something ... I forget now ... but I TOTAL dig this one ! And I think I also PUT BACK parts of your vocals that were in the track that you had turned the vol completely DOWN on .... I put all the VOL right back up to the TOP and then took it from there.

Linda's opening vocals in very entrancing, and the minimalistic background music with some unusual surreal sounds thrown into the mix give it a rather spooky, chilly atmosphere, like walking into a dark dungeon. Then it heats up with Alannah's textured voice uncurling like warm air into the chilled room. Timothy's Rod-Stewart impression of a voice also adds an interesting contrast as it is juxtaposed with the silken female voices. Not to sound dirty about it, but this mix is sexy like two ladies seducing this helpless man ;-). There's a french word for that, but i'll stop there, hehe. The song gets repetitive and not very well structured as it plods along, but really, who notices that when the voices carry it all the way through. This is bold erotic music in its raw from. ... for some inane reason ... I am attracted to the tunes which do not follow the normal "structure" pattern .... perhaps this is also why I like abstract art .... it's interpretive and the beauty can be found by the beholder and perhaps everyone will interpret it differently. Your comments are always the BEST Leon ! I always appreciate seeing your prose on any of the tunes I post.

You can't imagine the times I have 'sung' (hehee) along with MJ'rs songs. One time in my garage I had my headphones on, beltin' and braying along, air guitars and everything, and I failed to notice I had the garage door wide open... My good next door neighbor Bill asked me a little while later what that shit was, was I OK, because the teen kids were askin' him, and he had told them, "Uh.., I think that's just Harold singin', don't worry about it..."
This on the other hand, is nice - you should divulge a few more of your secrets....

.. you started this with a great idea ... Tim then really set the MOOD for the tune ... and I just couldnt keep my voice off of it ... also I wanted to tweak the vocal volumes a bit .... but I think I have listened to this over 100 times now .. hahahaha

... for the "emotional" .... now I hate to burst your newfound vision of me working diligently on that MAC ... but I have to be honest here .. I used the MAC to open the GB file that Tim sent me ... I then took the tracks and converted to AIF .. and then EMAILED them to my trusty dusty ole PC which I know so well ... and STILL used Adobe Audition to do this .... IKES (another dirty little secret I'm afraid) .... I am still afraid of that MAC .. but I am working with it more and more .... I'll GET there eventually.

.. for that little LIST button .. it gives ALL of us a chance to be played and heard by people who might not otherwise have chanced by .... and opens up our own listening experiences by listening to other Macjammers who maybe we might never have heard of otherwise ... so much more exposure .... but I agree with your comment ...
