Description
This is a piece that sets a string section off against a Rhodes piano with a backdrop of an insistant bass guitar.

Relax man.

the insistant bass guitar
Sometimes bass guitars can be rather insistant. They just won't take no for an answer, but you learn to live with the pushy buggers.

Anyway, I love the Rhodes on this track. It gives it a total space vibe. Makes me think about aliens.

Hey Rich...
Thanks for stopping by to listen and leave a comment.

The bass guitar part was very hard to tone down with respect to the other tracks and I finished up just lowering its volume against the other tracks. I tried compression and couldn't get anywhere fast. It's still no anywhere near a great production, which is a pity because it has some potential, especially with the lazy Rhodes and the clear strings.

The alien quality fits rather well with my mind at the moment. There's a surreal or other world quality to lots of the music I'm listening to at the moment (Ambient (Brian Eno, Frapp, Moby, others and Chill, along with Miles Davis recordings) so I think that some aspects of this are bound to come out somewhere in my mixes.

I admire you and all your friends efforts to put together tracks in such a short space of time. I had a listen some time ago but can't remember if I left any notes. The pieces you create have atmosphere and presence that only live recording can.

Take care and keep making that music.

Paul.

Thanks for listening and leaving a comment.

The Rhodes is sampled from the real Rhodes Mark 1 Eightyeight stage piano.

Glad you liked it.

Thanks Baki...
I love your description of what the mix evokes in you!!!

It's great to find out how music effects people in different ways. That's why I enjoy experimenting and putting some of my mixes on MJ's.

If only one other person is effected by any piece, that's one more person than before I let anyone else listen so I rest easy. Job done.

Take care.

Paul.

Pads and Paws
Love the pads and your paws on the rhodes/wurli! Interesting modulation to the more dissonant resolution.

I'm a little late in responding to your comments but I always get there in the end.

The whole mix is loops. They just seemed to fit together when I was playing around, mixing and melding them.

Take care.

Paul.

I enjoy creating music using computers and 'synthesized' as opposed to 'real' instruments. I have no problem using samples/loops in my music. Everyone does this every time they work with a track. I don't fit in any box and thoroughly enjoy working ou... [see more]
