well let me tell you, i actually suck at pro-tools. my friend helped me set the gear up and we basically just blasted through about 13 songs. we pretty much used it like a 4 track, i think that's why it sounds that way. I just played on a record for the girl who played on this, and it sounds like a pro-tools record. She spent about a year tweaking on it, and using all of the built in effects and amp models (no real amps at all). felt a little awkward playing guitar like that. when we did this, all of the effects were from the amps or pedals. even the vocal effects are all from cheap rack mounted stuff that was laying around. i think that it's probably possible to get the same quality sound out of anything, if you have good sounds going in. i'm in the process of trying to figure out how to get good live sounds out of GB now. i think i may have to buy (or possibly build) a pre-amp. any experience with those? thanks so much for coming by, it's really nice of you. I wish I could get to this level with Pro Tools. Its warm and sounds organic. Nothing too fancy that might get in the way of the exposed emotions. You are a song machine. Its all good, Lyrics, performance, tech stuff. Bravo
