This is a very interesting piece, and really nice for your first piano song. The chord changes are really quite lovely in their shifts between major and minor moments - and the dissonance works well as it resolves very quickly in what seems to be mostly a major key. Some of the elements seem to clash a little, bass, strings and piano converging at awkward times, but then everything unfurls again. Personally - I like the music sans sound effects, which call attention to themselves more than setting as a backdrop for the music. Sounds like the strings could use a little touching up E.Q.-wise, maybe some reverb, to make them sound less "keyboardy." A lot of thought and structure is evident here and I like the mood that you create. So, for a first time out with this kind of material, I'd say you did a great job!

I really appreciate your comments and observations. It's always nice to have another (skilled) set of ears suggest things I may not consider. Thanks!
