Description:
I'm taking a break from doing dramatic and intense sountracks for a while:) and spring has finally come to NY so I was inspired to post this laid back chill-out track from a time when I didn't know enough about music to realise that a 6 min track with not that much going on may just not be too clever. The structure and chords are so simple I'd kick myself to add vocals or distinct melody - if I were my own producer that is - but I'm not, and I'm totally fine with that! So here is a light, feel-good tune and if you make it though to the end - the introduction of the final theme I still consider to be one of my better ones.

felt good to me &mdash 04/20/07 - 10:07:10 AM
Just had this groovin in the background as I did my day work gig. This is a nicely done piece - the mix, the different ambient sections you managed to create and how they all move so effortlessly from one to the next. Lots hap'n happening subliminally at the edges, what with those dancing sequencer type piano's/bells.. You really up the ante' when the drums and bass kick in. Woud love to hear a fat solo (Guitar/Keys) really lay out the foundation somewhere in this hypnotic mix. But it stands well on its own. Maybe that was my inner muse jamming along with it :-) Great job. Makes me want to go outside and enjoy life. As in right now

Cool. &mdash 04/21/07 - 06:48:42 PM
Thanks a lot. Feel free to play around with it. I really appreciate your piano playing and if you hear a solo in there, go for it, sounds like a good idea to me!

Way out... &mdash 04/21/07 - 07:18:23 PM
Thanks EL. I can never come up with good names - the first title for it was "first draft" or "nowhere yet", then I changed it to WOS, since I kept calling all my songs "first draft" and "nowhere yet" (lol).

Fully Chilled &mdash 04/20/07 - 10:33:05 AM
I love the use of the classic chill-out instruments: Hammond and Rhodes (and the Solina sound), used in an ambient framework. Impeccably mixed, nice movement from section to section, nice drums and harmonic structure. Another Parichayaka classic tune. Thanks for sharing your music, it's always a great listen. I agree with K...a nice solo in there to spice it up and add a dramatic center would be cool, but certainly not necessary.

I usually learn about the instruments I'm using from your comments (remember "Heroes"?!). Thanks a lot for taking your time, Graham.

Smooth... &mdash 04/20/07 - 10:34:09 AM
laid back kick start to a late New York spring. As an ex-New Yorker I know what it's like waiting for spring to finally come. My blood pressure went down 20 points while listening to this simple yet wonderfully layered work of yours. As always crisp yet very relaxing and filled with good vibes.
Best,

It is STILL an INTENSE soundtrack! &mdash 04/20/07 - 11:06:47 AM
Brilliant builds and layers. When the strings come in... really rips me. Subtle nuances as this progresses up and down... and then back up again.

The change before the plesent piano solo was unexpected, and if you hadn't placed it their, I would have suggested it. :)

Fades to white.

Thanks for sharing!

Still intense :) &mdash 04/23/07 - 01:13:03 PM
You're right, it needed to go SOMEWHERE after that! I actually had 2 different endings. That one ended up sounding a bit like "Remembrance" from Caia's Magic Dragon. And let me just tell you that I'm really amazed at your recent work. I still need to take my time to fully appreciate your latest "symphonies"!

Awesome &mdash 04/20/07 - 11:35:00 AM
The buildup is great, and halfway through it just breaks out into some serious cosmic beauty. This is excellent!

DRIVIN' MUSIC! &mdash 04/20/07 - 01:46:41 PM
In so many different ways - but right off the bat, this is going on road-trip with me (outside of city limits) - what a delicious composition. I honestly wasn't expecting it to go full throttle like that. This is not only uplifting but it's an empowering tune - who wouldn't feel top of the world listening to the movements of this piece? You say not much is going on, but this song is a musical eco-system unto itself, where the happy burbling synths co-exist peacefully with those huge french horn-ish modulations and chunky bass sequences. I will have to watch my speed when this track kicks in - honestly. Wonderful track here, man.

Oscillations &mdash 04/20/07 - 02:23:38 PM
Oh for spring to arrive in my part of the world! I love the feel of it; waves, echoes, oscillations, etc. Interesting stereo panning; it all sounds great. You're one talented dude, that's for sure.

,,,happy, chilled-out music...you have put a smile on my face (although I'm about to face winter in my part of the world-and the seasons here seriously affect my income)
This toon gives a sense of optimism, and optimism is exactly what I need right now!

Great Respect &mdash 05/02/07 - 10:47:53 PM
You express yourself so freely in your music. I love your sweeping orchestration in the background, and your rhythmic patterns are always intriguing. Do you cut loops for the drums or do you "play" those in? This is an inspiring groove and it lifts my heart. I love your transitions, especially the one at around 4:05. The change of tempo is very effective. Beautiful as always. Your music always seems to connect.

Great respect &mdash 05/07/07 - 12:28:57 PM
Thanks for this wonderful comment, Rick. I play in the drums and other instruments, but there might be a loop hidden somewhere during the "hook", mainly as support for the main rhythm, I'd have to check the GB file. Usually I start from scratch. It's become so easy to do ones own drum loops that I usually find it easier to create them myself rather than trying to find the perfect loop:) Hey when are you posting again? It's been a while and your fans a waiting!

Yes &mdash 05/05/07 - 01:41:47 PM
another great meditative piece from you, Parichayaka! Especially liked that surging bassline in some of the more intense sections. (If I were to try that it would be all rumble and distortion.) Nice flow of softer and more intense sections with good transitions between them, too. As for me this one could easily pass as a "dramatic and intense soundtrack" as well, but you decide... Thank you for the music!

Cool! &mdash 05/08/07 - 12:51:55 PM
Thanks Henrik. Always delighted to see blue sky on the comments page! Bit surprised you call it a meditative piece - what a nice compliment though. How's your music coming? In case you're interested - I believe this song was done with only the free garageband package no JPs - I'm sure it'll sound equally good or better if you work the bass with your system:)

I really enjoyed it.... &mdash 05/08/07 - 12:15:27 PM
hypnotic rythm, lively drums setting the background for the synth strings and the keyboard adding some random and not so random melody into it....relaxing and lively at the same time...Thank you for sharing....

Sweet &mdash 05/11/07 - 09:14:47 PM
is the word. Nice sounds, good mix, and terrific sense of dynamics. Very cool. I'm sure you could drive yourself nuts thinking of things you could add, but it pretty much stands on its own two feet, in my humble opinion. makes me think of London (don't ask...). Very cool. Thanks for sharing. Peace.

Mississippi &mdash 05/17/07 - 01:26:30 PM
Just been for a walk in the sunshine on the banks of the Mississippi, and this song came up on the iPod. Beautiful, and now it doesn't make me think of London anymore. Great track. Peace.

Inspiring &mdash 05/14/07 - 06:17:54 PM
Oh, man - whenever I'm getting remotely close to being in danger of perhaps starting to vaguely lose a tiny bit of sight of how good you really are, (don't worry - your tracks appear frequently enough in my iTunes/iPod playlists to avoid that) you go ahead and upload a new track.

And man, I'm impressed!

The vibe, the instruments, the production quality, the writing, the vibe, the arrangement, the performances and the vibe - it's just to die for.

To be perfectly honest - Your music is the kind of music I want to be able to write. The melodic, epic, orchestral/chill-out/electronic soundtracky feeling you've got going on in your music is something to envy!

Anyway, this is going straight to my already huge Parichayaka collection - and without hesitation!

Stunning work, yet again!
(Hope my praises aren't over the top - because I don't feel they are)

-Einar S.

Power in lightness &mdash 06/10/07 - 06:57:52 AM
Well, it still is quite dramatic and intense for a chill-out track, and that's no bad thing! It has a great strength and self-confidence.
