Description
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pastiche

This hodge-podge of soundscapes comes together initially as 'Textures in my Dreams' but it's something more than this.

'A snapshop through the night' could be a more literal description or meaning, hence the URL at the top of this text.

The good dreams and not so good dreams, the pleasure and the pain, the calm before the storm, the birdsong and sun after the storm, the pleasing slow string descent through two octaves, the worried voices, discarnate or dreamlike.

(The strings are part of another, more down to earth classical piece that will one day be born).

What an imagery
I'd love to hear those soundscape ideas blended into one 7 minute piece with smooth transitions! Especially the first two I found really inspiring. The part with the voices is well done and is quite intense. There's great potential in these ideas, very evocative and creative.

I know exactly what you mean....
All the snippits I meld together are evocative of some emotion (usually) or they remind me of a certain time or place, or they make new imagery in my minds eye due to the newly evoked sensations.

I don't know about 7 minutes of this sort of stuff. It's sometimes soul-destroying to go over long-forgotten feelings that come to the surface of my mind when I play/discover a certain musical sound or phrase. Things that were locked away for good reason suddenly rear their heads and I 'go off on one' or so to say.

I'm busily learning the art of string and other instrument arrangement so it may be a while before something half decent come out of it. That is if anything 'reaches' half decent.

Thanks for stopping by.

Paul.

Great images!
remembers me in some parts to Vangelis "1492" soundtrack.

A lot of colours in it, very creative, here is a lot to discover!

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Bernd
Thanks for listening and leaving your comments.

I'm going through a phase of 'Vangelis' and 'Eno' stuff. I have loved Vangelis for years and only really knew Eno through his Roxy Music days. Today I have access to all their back works so I'm listening to all sorts.

I haven't heard the Vangelis track you refer to for a number of years but it's highly likely that I'm mimicking something. His music reaches my soul and so is remembered from time to time.

I don't consciously pick sounds that evoke Vangelis most of the time but those are the sort of sounds that wake me up. I do hope though that any music that is made with these sounds is sufficiently 'me' as opposed to sounding vaguely like a Vangelis bad-day recording.

Paul.

I enjoy creating music using computers and 'synthesized' as opposed to 'real' instruments. I have no problem using samples/loops in my music. Everyone does this every time they work with a track. I don't fit in any box and thoroughly enjoy working ou... [see more]
