Spare. Expressive. Elemental.

I like the Directness of the melodic "narration".

Cheers,
Dixie

breathy buzzy flute... — 04/03/07 - 11:26:48 AM

Nice "walking" (fretless?) bass and pace, composition stays fresh with your guitar and flute across it. The flute seemed slightly behind at the beginning, but wasn't a problem later. Nice nice sounds here. The guitar seemed ever-so-slightly loud and dry in the mix, but that may be my desire to hear the flute more. And the ending was a little abrupt with the other instruments just disappearing, leaving the bass standing there alone on stage. So, you played flute... did you play guitar and bass too?
ttfn,
Drakonis

I've always wanted to play bass and guitar, but nope, GB is da bomb. I did play the keyboard here, though.... what, you didn't hear it? ;-)

Thanks for the good words.

Beautiful soundscape you've put together here. Slightly disturbing, then suddenly reassuring, then unnerving all over again.

I am listening to Reach Out For Your Life
What a masterpiece. I am actually, actually hearing flute lines in it. What a wonderful song.

This is pretty darn cool - — 04/06/07 - 09:24:41 PM

At first I was too aware of the looped guitar - but when your flute came in strong it all started working for me. Nice tone and invention. The vibe is very cool - slowing the pace the way you did sets up a nice drone. The keys fit in nice - I assume it's the droney accent around the bass and guitar. Nice work - welcome to

Your flute is the star! &mdash 04/23/07 - 09:23:16 AM
I enjoy this dry piece. Did you create the lion sound?

The whole has a harsh openness.

Not harsh negative &mdash 04/23/07 - 10:02:23 AM
but harsh as oppressive climate. :)

about the vocal track... &mdash 04/23/07 - 11:33:34 AM
Those are camel clips I got off the web. Yes, this is ao dry because I removed the flute reverb -- there's no reverb in the desert!
Thanks for the good words!

..the first mix - but I like this .. has a bit of
"Summertime and the livin' 'ain't easy" going on to my
ears .. fantastic expressive flute playing, Ian Anderson
would be proud of :o) - keep doin' your thang. Thanks for sharing.

I put me in a great frame of mind. sweet tones on the flute. The bed the flute plays over reminds me of some early 70s Miles stuff. I think Slow Fire might be one. Real laid back with great playing and just nice lines coming from the soloing.
I welcome u to Mjs
I love the free stuff here. gonna download this for sure and put it in a special playlist for my mellow times such as bed time or Sunday morning. enough about my S*#t
