Description:
this song was one of the last things we recorded. Done in the BIG studio with Joe Barbaria as engineer. We obsessed over this one. It was a really fun song LIVE. mudpal k

Lyrics:
the story of the story of
i hope i tell it well
brought up in a land so free
thinking it so swell
want a wife
want a house
want the biggest car
she wants to be president
he wants to be a star

but where is love
but where is love

do they teach you to be what they want?
do they tell ou to be nice?
do they tell you that your world is sugar
sugar and spice?

do you resent the fact that it's so hard,
and you never had a clue?
and now your candy coated world has melted into goo.

well it's up to you
to change it too

luck

you're opening the drum/rhythm school for shamans. is that true? :))) electrifying... vocals could be little bit louder, but big fun overall :)

Another nice piece of history! &mdash 04/23/07 - 12:28:56 PM
What I would give to go back in time and catch you guys live. This is great festival music - music to catch a wave by, to crowd surf by, to do the hippy shake by! Lots of great energy and wide open wave melodies. And very tribal! This track reminds me of a local band in Florida called Lo Presher. If you guys were recording and performing today, you would SO tear down the house at surf expos and rainbow festivals! Another d/l!

I like how the tune is powerful, but somehow delicate and ornate. Very cool drums and interesting song.

i know what you mean by delicate and ornate. there are 'clouds' of percussion on this. thanks for your great message

old guy here... I cannot remember the song that the little ditty starting at 00:39 -> 00:50 reminds me of, an old 'psychedelic' daze song, an old favorite of mine from the era.... not that this song sounds like it at all.

cool stuff here, folks.

Regarding Surf &mdash 04/24/07 - 10:26:14 AM
Know what's odd, Kevin? I had never thought of a surf sound with this song until people were leaving comments about it on here. I had always thought of it as Cowboys meet Africa but NOW i can hear the surf music relation.

hi mudpal c &mdash 04/25/07 - 12:35:09 PM
i can't remember that long ago what was going on in my brain.. surf rock might have been in there. i just think i was trying to find a simple melody to play over what you and mike were doing. mudpal k

Shadows meets talking heads, terrific, colourful blur of rhythms and beats, Id bring the vocals forward in the mix a little IMO. Great for a sunny drive. Fantastic.

strong message &mdash 04/25/07 - 12:53:44 PM
You had a conscious grip on things with this band. The jungle groove supports the chaos inside one mind looking for love in a decadent world.

Good hook-line to hold on to when it gets to overwhelming.

One more super mudmen song to the collecion:)

Thanks!

Nearly missed this one ... &mdash 05/29/07 - 01:51:12 PM
.. which would've been my loss. Great drumming really pushes this one along, and the instruments have an almost 'world music' flavour to theme. Funkin belly dancing art rock music .... excellent stuff ... feeds the head and the feet.

fun! &mdash 06/07/07 - 11:25:53 PM
I would have loved to be the bass player on this one. The rhythm section seem to be having all the fun. Sure the surfy guitar is fun, but what makes this song is the drivin rhythm. After the word "luck" there seems to be a tape splice, very distinct break. Intentional? The natives are very restless it seems......you must have had a blast playing this live.
