Description:
biba_nova (Bryn) heard my "Soulless" instrumental and asked if he could remix it. I sent him the logic file (with a vocal embedded in it).
It turned out fantastic in my opinion!
Lyrics:

I've listened to this several times, and as hard as I try to actually listen to it, it sends me off thinking of something else. I think that is what it might be intended to do.
I like the vocal echoes.
Good amount of bass in there, full spectrum of sound.

I hear a modernised Enya or more Clannad in this too ..
lovely voice (nicely effected) and lush backing, really good mix. Especially like the way the "whispered words

...and I'm not sure where it was. An old bookstore, I think, with wooden floors and books full of forgotten dreams and lost ideas. It was snowing outside, and it was warm in the store. I found a book that was different every time I opened the cover. There were dragonflies made of crystal.

Sheesh, this is lovely!!
I can see how some would reference 'Enya', as her music does often incorporate the stepper synth amidst her floaty vocals, but to me this goes beyond that style and drifts into more free and abstract territory.
It's great to hear you singing, Caroline, and Bryn...kudos on remixing this.

I added a bass part, and used cj's chord sequence to create some of my own arpegiated parts.
There was one vocal track embedded...which I copied so there were 3...each track treated differently
Also...I incorporated original 'soulless' track in to the mix as well [ Reply to This ]

This is a cool track. you have a gentle rhythm going, with some vocal fragments floating over it. Did the original have actually intelligible lyrics?
The rhythm is interesting: there are some electronic rhythm instruments, but at times the rhythm comes as much from the synths and the echo on the vocals. Cool. [ Reply to This ]

was indeed intelligble. I purposefully decided to make it sound like this throughout the song and then make the last few words clearly audible in the mix.
