Description:
A light-hearted rant; rampant materialism meets mid-life crisis. I used a GB2 drum track, two acoustic guitars, and some wooden spoons.
Lyrics:
I’m riding down the road on a sport-tour bikeBeemer F800 and it sure pulls nice
Leaning into a left, I got good rear tire tread
This would really be great if it wasn’t all in my head
But I got a job that barely pays the bills
Can’t spend good money on selfish thrills
The older one has braces now she wants a car
The Younger one needs a piano or she’ll be forever scarred
Mamma hasn’t seen a movie in about a year
All the drama at home bringing her to tears
All the little bills building up to one big pain
Daily I grieve the loss of another dream down the drain
I guess I could kill myself in orgy of overtime
I’m worth more dead than alive
Why not race to the end of that line?
And just work more overtime
I was thinking of the Beemer or a nice Corvette
But I got me a pool now I’m drowning in debt
You can’t float a loan on a backyard lake
You’ll kill yourself on a bike anyway
For Heaven’s sake
I say if I die I’ll be all right
Cause if I only get hurt
You know I’m gonna
Really piss-off my wife

Cool Song.
I left a Comment a minute ago and the Site told me the Song was deleted.
Glad to see that's not so.
Great Guitars
Fine Mix, right to the corners.

Yeah, I did that double submission thing again, but this time figured out how to take one out; Hope I didn't delete your original comment; always look forward to hearing your take on the songs. Thanks.

To be honest, the spoons (not THE Dollywood?) threw me at first, but as the song went on I came to appreciate the way they worked in the song. Some nice sliding guitar bits and a solid rhythm on the acoustic.
Keep em coming Joe,
Cheers,
Neil

I kept wondering what a Jiguma bass line would do to this. Yes, I found the spoons at Dolly Parton's park; I really enjoyed the park, very musically oriented; had a real guitar and mandolin shop there. I had a great time. Thanks for checking in :-)

I like this. The lyrics cracked me up (in a kind of "that sounds familiar, so why am i laughing?" way) and I like the guitar sounds all the way through. My favorite line - "I got me a pool, now I'm drowning in debt". Nice.

Someday that road will be mine; It'll just have to wait awhile. I really lliked your latest and appreciate your visit here. Thanks.

I love the Dollywood wooden spoons. very nice touch!!
The production is tip tiop . I really likes this song. Its catchy!
Have you put any bass on this? Just a though. Nice melody.
Joe Brady
Good to see you here, No, no bass yet, though I had thought about it (see above note to Neil). Glad you liked the spoons, I was just a little taken with them and couldn't wait to try them out. Thanks for the note, looking forward to your next post.

I appreciate the visit and the good words.

I enjoyed listening to this. Well played and sung. The spoons are brilliant.
What did you do with the vocals? Somehow on my monitors they sound like they're coming from behind me.....
Joe Brady
good to see you here again. After your last visit, I knew I had to redo the vocal line with a pop-filter for my collab with Neil. About the same time I had the idea of recording the vocal in stereo using two microphones. It is not a complete idea; it's still evolving, but the sound is interesting if not perfect. I'm still working on it. BTW, I use a pair of my wife's nylon stockings stretched over a clothes-hanger for a pop-filter; low-tech but it works, thanks for the tip.

I can really identify. It's nice to have musical therapy isn't it? This is my cheap thrill and it gets me through. Wonderful playing and singing - spooning too. Thanks for a real fun listen.

"All the little bills building up to one big pain"...got that right.
Lots of truth in this tune, guy. Resonates strong with me. Enjoyed everything about it. Nice work...
Dig the photo! thats me too. Cool lyrics feel that way everyday! just good music cool!!!!!

Really great to see you all here at my musical therapy session! The doc thinks I'm making progress but I'd rather talk to you guys instead. Thanks Bud , Bob, and Ego; I appreciate and look forward to your comments.

This is fantastic! love the lyrics. Glad my pics could be an inspiration. The line, "You can%u2019t float a loan on a backyard lake," says it all. I will be sending this song to a friend of mine whom I believe will relate. Your expression of "killing yourself on overtime" struck double with me. Being worth more dead than alive...IT'S ALL TRUE!
The only nit I could come up with was with the vox itself. It was very hard to hear and, I thought, was way to far back in the mix.
Great song!
bug67
That's what I get for listening on my laptop the first go around. Vox sounds much better on real speakers! :)

having just cruised some twisties here in NorCal this morning on my Victory 8-Ball, I can attest that that Beemer would be money well spent, mental health is priceless, don't you know? What's a mid-life if you can't have a crisis moment to show for it?
This is a great song. Totally bouncy and fun. I LOVE the spoons! Great idea. The guitars are crisp and full. Lyrics are a crack-up and also so so...true.
Thanks,
Philip

I'll tell my wife I found a counseler on-line and what you've recommended for my mental health; she's coming around slowly, I'm hoping to take the safe rider course in the spring.
Thanks for the visit, I'm a new fan. Take Care.
Joe.
Sir Bass
Playing that thang overtime. love it.
sloparts
and I love the mix. Guitars are nice and clean and the vocal is just right in the mix so you can hear the lyrics without being overpowered by it.
You did a fine job on this one, I really like it a lot. Lofe the story of it, I can relate and I imaging so can most.

I love this song. I love the little guitar diddy guitar hoding the melody. Would have loved have heard you jam out a lead with that guitar tone. Really cool and fun. Drive down the highway with this one turned way up!!
Joe Brady
Wow, I was sleeping and didn't see all these comments sneak in. Seems the subject material is close to many hearts; that's cool. I'd love to go down the highway on a little beemer, maybe someday. Thanks all, much appreciated.
Cheers,
Joe
