Description:
Piano, vocals and some orchestral embellishments. And yes... after 10 years i bought myself a new tenor saxophone.

Thanks for the listen.
- Walter

Lyrics:
She dances while he’s watching her
All movements seem to him
That she’s divine, untouchable
Made of glass and breakable

She’s turning round and round again
And pulls him closer to
The boundary of lunacy
Loosing all up his dignity

Shades against the light that come alive
To make a private painting
Unexposed to public gazing

While foot by foot she’s coming near
She looks him straight into
The eyes that stare persistently
Showing vulnerability

When shivering fingers touch her skin
She smiles more honestly
Than prophesied by tendency
Improvised conspiracy

Sounds that fill the room and glue the glass
Which hit the ground in slivers
Lust and life, contagious quivers

Anguished hearts and broken lies
Will fade away by the light of day
Blue-ish dancer, through the night
Will fly away, we’ll fly away

Unclothed flesh, uncoated core
Dictating singles to be
Sinners whispering secretly
Soothing words of mystery

They’re turning round and round again
While moving closer to
The border of insanity
Loosing all their dignity

Shades against the light that come alive
To make a private painting
Unexposed to public gazing

Anguished hearts and broken lies
Will fade away by the light of day
Blue-ish dancer, through the night
Will fly away, we’ll fly away

Sure, instruments don't necesseraly need to be expensive to sound great. At least for an amateur like me, that baby sounds pretty enough. Thanks for stopping by!

gorgeous film noir music, beautiful lyrics, I like the chimes that come in around when the glass breaks - great attention to detail. I'm smitten with this one.

I don't think you just create music, you really do create an entire other world with those piano chords, saxophone, and heart-breaking voice.

...that's one hell of a compliment, Estella:-) So glad you enjoyed the entire piece. As usual, blood, sweat and tears on the lyrics, and i'm glad you could spend some time lending your 'poetic' ear before it was finalised. I do appreciate that a lot. Thanks so much again, and be sure i'm looking forward to your next song.

More Moorlandt! &mdash 04/28/07 - 08:23:28 AM
Love it. The "polytonal" piano intro is great.
Your sax may be cheap, but your sound and playing aren't!
Pro's: the sound, the atmosphere, the images, the composition
Con's; none

The lyrics also remind me of someone singing "She dances while I'm watching her" :)

jajaja... in fact it was that 7/8 sketch track you sent me that reminded me of that 'old' song we made together. And then came the memory of the lyrics I wrote at that time. I thought it fitted well:-) Euh, am I cloning myself? Damned!

Thanks stef... and the next one is our collab. For sure

where is Poirot? &mdash 04/28/07 - 08:43:28 AM
I was certain i saw a glimpse of him in here somewhere...

Wonderful sax melodies wrapped around the piano. It would do great as the soundtrack of one of Agatha Christies stories.

You're almost spoken words adds to the dark mystic overall feeling.

And did I mention the sax? You must have played some during those ten years? It sound fab Walter!

You like to watch? &mdash 04/28/07 - 11:46:57 AM
Walter - this is so intimate, I feel like a voyeur listening to this. The sax and piano playing are great, arrangement excellent, but this isn't the sum of it's parts -the whole mood you create here is dark, sultry, wet.

Same old stuff it surely ain't.

I'd put this up with Ghosts by Japan - it's that good, and your voice sounds so deep and strong here. I love the suddeness of the ending to - it's just .. perfect.

Really, outstanding, I look forward to playing this in dark, intimate circumstances.

Ghosts of Japan... that has always been my favourite track of them! Perhaps one the more experimental songs they made, but surely one of the most dark and intimite. It must be at least 15 years ago since i last heard that song.

Just want add that i admire your recent work so much as well, steve. That's why i'm double delighted with every visit of yours. Thanks so much!

Just Great &mdash 04/28/07 - 09:38:22 PM
With "Sail On" and now this, you're really flooring me. While this has a definite early 20th century European flavor, your production and very very clever use of effects makes it absolutely contemporary. Really stunning stuff.

I'm very much charmed by the fact that you compare this song with early 20th century music, as i'm a big sucker for the music of composers like Satie, Ravel, Debussy, etc...

A delight! &mdash 04/29/07 - 05:13:12 AM
The piano intro immediately draws me in; it creates a haunting, impossible-to-ignore mood, with an edge of craziness, which is a perfect setup for the lyrics that follow. Your harmonic language is remarkably sophisticated, relative to the multitude of popular music genres, and the way you build the whole production is a model of restraint. Your voice is, as usual, one of the most expressive instruments to be found here at MacJams, and this time we get to hear your skills as a saxophonist as well! I am always hugely impressed by your music, but never more so than with this song.

That sax sounds great - very old sound. Another excellent set of lyrics in your inimmitable style, and the vocals are typically deep and unique. I took more norice than usual of your piano and arrangement this time - a really subtle use of simple runs and chords which is so effective. All-round fantastic post. Wow, this is huge, surreal, amazingly visual, epic. Other people have posted songs on this site where they tried to capture, to varying degrees of success, this vast soundscape, you have captured so brilliantly here. There is a lovely complexity to it, all it's little variations and mysteries, I would be interested to know if you considered some note during the verses held at some quiet midclimax. This is very adventurous and wonderful. Fantastic

I don't know how you do this, but you are ALWAYS able to point out EXACTLY what what the soul of my song is about. And you it again here... I wanted to capture the way she seduces him, and the man's excitement through the feeling of my music. That's why this saxophone is so very suited i think. It's the only instrument i can almost litterally 'sing through'.

This was a show that went from 10-2
and she was hip, introducing stuff that who new it would be classic

anyway your comment reminded me of the old days when the new music was found late night under cover
