Love the harpsichord &mdash 04/28/07 - 03:57:32 PM
Love the harpsichord type sound. Nice lilting melody throughout. Nice work. Cheers. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks... &mdash 04/28/07 - 04:20:30 PM
The harpsicord-like sound is an original GB instrument, which is hidden in the "synth textures" section and called "Fontelina Fifths". I found it by accident.
Thank you for listening and leaving a comment!

the tension &mdash 04/28/07 - 04:02:23 PM
I was listening to this while holding my breath (as a matter of speaking... but truely i did for a while). The pipe-organish synth sound conotate to church music, and so do the chords. But it has much more than that. The bells, the tension you were able to maintain. This is simply beautiful, Bernd. Made me listen three times without effort.

I love Johann Sebastian Bach and may be this is the influence here. I was just playing along on my new Midi keyboard and found this harpsichord sound and had this few chords in my mind.
So I pushed the record button and played. And than I needed hours to find a matching synth sound.
I often think, there are not many people which share this feeling of tension in this kind of music, this "stop-breathing-listening" to catch it.
Have you ever heard Bach's "Prelude and Fugue in A Minor, BWV 543"?
If not, I am sure you will like it and agree, that Bach is everything but not old fashioned. Every time I here this, I feel sooo little with my poor melodies...;-)
I am really glad you liked it and your comment is always appreciated, Walter!
Greetings,
Bernd

I feel lucky &mdash 04/29/07 - 01:16:22 PM
I found you here today. I have been away from MJ for awhile but this was a nice discovery, and I will try more of your music for sure. My only critique for the moment is the ending, which I found a bit abrupt. [ Reply to This ]

You're right, the end is still not the end... It is easy to loop this song, but it is still unfinished.
Thank you for listening and your kind appreciated comment!

Electronic chamber music &mdash 04/29/07 - 11:06:13 PM
Interesting piece. It feels classical in that it has more pronounced sections of low and high intensity than most electronic compositions. I think that most electronic writing seems to have percussion almost by default, which gives a continuity to a piece that is not always positive. Since you're not using percussion you can actually let the music come to a rest every once in a while.
Very nice.

You're right, I don't wanted to put the notes in a prison of bar lines. It should have this classical organ touch and It's about to let the notes have the time they need, I think.

Three's a charm &mdash 05/01/07 - 10:06:58 AM
Very pretty piece here... this has a bit of a Bach-prelude feel, but with a synth-accompaniment twist. Nice choice of instrument sounds. Interestingly, it reminds me a bit of an old defunct Dutch band called "Galbatron", who did stuff like this. I could see this particular piece grow into a full-fledged concerto by itself. This is like a one-melody sketch for a grand opus. I hope you work on this some more! Oh, and nice playing, by the way!

This my favourite "area" so far, and it is still unfinished.
I love this organ touch in the instruments and the slowly moving harmonies. I have an extendet version on my Mac, but it has no ending so far... And fade out is no solution here...
