It is nice ........... &mdash 04/30/07 - 08:37:58 PM
to hear the guitars so clear, and the keyboard as the percussion at parts............it gives a smooth relaxing feeling :) [ Reply to This ]
Morning Light- &mdash 04/30/07 - 08:48:38 PM
Thanks, I guess its a little change of pace to actually hear the echo and reverb instead of layering them away with other instruments. [ Reply to This ]
wow &mdash 04/30/07 - 08:55:27 PM
Realy grabbed me and held me here had to hear every note cool music. Do you plan on expanding on it, it would go along way!!! Thanks for sharing [ Reply to This ]
egobandit- &mdash 05/01/07 - 02:22:13 PM
Expand...I still am improvising with it and might try for some well placed drum beats instead of a layer of loops. Thanks a lot for listening! [ Reply to This ]
i agree with the wife... &mdash 04/30/07 - 10:00:39 PM
i like it very much w/out drums. it adds a nice breathable quality to the piece, and it a very pleasant piece as is.
i love the guitar sound you are getting and the backing piano. very nice, indeed [ Reply to This ]
Faelin- &mdash 05/01/07 - 02:26:45 PM
Thanks, the guitar is Sunburst Lead from the Rhythm Jam Pack, the piano is my specially overdriven electric. Thanks again for stopping by :) [ Reply to This ]
Bright! &mdash 05/01/07 - 11:18:37 AM
Right from the start it is very fresh. It builds well. Works without drums. You might play with some low end notes.
Nice! [ Reply to This ]
Doaders Uncle- &mdash 05/01/07 - 02:39:44 PM
Glad you like the bright sound. I don't often play in Major Keys. I had trouble with the basses I tried, but maybe some lower notes using the existing guitar and piano voices will blend in better. Thanks for your comments. [ Reply to This ]
A nice feel about this &mdash 05/02/07 - 04:55:13 AM
Spacious and clean. A touch long perhaps without some further development but it works well as it is.
Cheers

Glad you could stop by. I'm mulling over bass and drum ideas, so maybe there will be a second version later, but my wife really like this one so it will stay :) Thanks for listening. [ Reply to This ]
Fusion is the business!!! &mdash 05/02/07 - 12:54:05 PM
I think that this piece is great!!
I didn't miss percussion at all. There was enough going on.
Excellent all around.

Glad you liked it. I hate to say it because it gets over used at work, but "less is more" seems to apply to this tune. [ Reply to This ]
Easy listening... &mdash 05/02/07 - 09:12:05 PM
Nice, I'd agree with the others and say no percussion is really needed here. Sounds great, I liked the way it faded out at the end. Nice work. [ Reply to This ]
Alex &mdash 05/03/07 - 02:01:13 PM
Thanks for stopping by. Parring back on the parts seems to work here and is probably a good step to take when I try to polish future pieces. I will still work on my application of percussion :) [ Reply to This ]
This is cool! &mdash 05/03/07 - 03:33:31 PM
I personally would like to hear it with the drums. But this piece could stand on it's own anyway. In the begining I caught a "Van Halen" vibe and towards the end it was feeling more like "Boston"..
I really liked it.
Nice Job. P.S. If you ever think of expanding and need
additional guitars, send me a note, I love
to help you out.

I will give your suggestions some serious thought. The piano part is easy to improvise with, so a variation based on the same central idea might be cool. Thanks for listening and I am glad you like the tune! [ Reply to This ]
Nice wide open sound... &mdash 05/04/07 - 07:43:07 AM
...I really like it.
Maybe you could experiment with some percussion instrument(s) other than the standard drum set as a complement to the piece. Wish I could remember the name of the instrument. It's great as is...but I find myself wondering how it would sound with a bit more to make it drive.
Just my humble opinion. Great respect for your work. [ Reply to This ]
GuitaPick &mdash 05/04/07 - 02:10:51 PM
I like the idea of looking into the other percussion besides the drum kits. Thanks for listening and commenting on my little poll about the drums :) [ Reply to This ]

Its always fun trying new instruments with the clavinova. (I only share the experiments that seem to work ;)

Im trying &mdash 05/04/07 - 10:39:12 AM
I cant really picture a drum here, but I think one would definately bring out a little more of the music. I think the melody is good enough to keep me listening and the guitar sounds very nice. Maybe a little bass is what you need. [ Reply to This ]
Spitlogic- &mdash 05/04/07 - 02:41:43 PM
Your in good company in the bass department, the bass drum of the drum loop used to provide some low end... Thanks for your comments and I'm glad you like the melody. [ Reply to This ]
Beautiful... &mdash 05/05/07 - 01:14:48 PM
...some icy cymbals, hihats, or /and some indian type percussion maybe, feels like I like to hear a parallel voice in there.
And a melancolic bass to counterweight occassionaly.
... it really feels like a "composition", and a statement... buid on it... its right on!
Thanks!!! [ Reply to This ]

Thanks for the kind words and I will let my wife know you agree with her. [ Reply to This ]
Very good &mdash 05/06/07 - 04:04:50 PM
Personally I like this the way it is. There is plenty of breathing room allowing me to take in each section as it evolves. A percussion track may tend to guide the listener too much.... with the echo and reverb I found the musical statements were perfectly punctuated and created a cool weightless like vibe. The actual timing of the phrases were actually anchored by the silence. Regardless of what you do this is very good and I enjoyed the listen ( big fan of the clav ) [ Reply to This ]
Norman &mdash 05/06/07 - 04:27:55 PM
Insightful comments. I like the way the instruments sound by themselves also. The irony is that without the drums I have trouble keeping the solid beat that you hear while I am playing them (the metronome just doesn't do it for me). Thanks for listening! [ Reply to This ]
Some thoughts... &mdash 05/06/07 - 10:19:31 PM
I agree with others about the simplicity of the arrangement --- forget about beefing up the orchestration. This is clean as is... Way to go.
Personally, I am into developing melody...Don't know if you are thinking about that. As it is, this is an interesting and engaging rhythmic composition that doesn't really GO anywhere in particular. If that's what you meant, it works great. I just think there's another compostional element that would make this number take off. Something to consider...or not.

Your comments are very thought provoking. Gets the creative juices going! I am thinking of putting together another piece around the same basic idea and you have just suggested a different way to expand on this, Thanks. [ Reply to This ]
Spacey &mdash 05/07/07 - 05:44:19 AM
hey PP - this has a nice open spacey feel to it. Love the guitar riffs, and the piano works really well too. This is great as it is ... but yeah, some drums and bass would give it a bit more grounding I guess.
So many ways you can work at a song ... but if your happy, leave it ... then onto the next one!

Thanks for listening. My Clavinova really appreciates your complement on the dynamics, all but the final fade are generated by those touch sensitive keys. [ Reply to This ]
very nice &mdash 05/08/07 - 01:47:54 AM
so you also have a Clavinova? I've had mine for a few yrs and love it, although my daugher rather play our real piano....I really liked the sounds....I have not experimented much other than the piano sounds and I have yet to find the perfect piano sound in either GB or LE. At any rate, this piece has great sounds and melody...thank you for sharing [ Reply to This ]
Enrique Gil &mdash 05/08/07 - 05:37:39 PM
The key action is great on the clav. Mine only has 6 voices, so GarageBand has opened up a lot of new sounds. I have to agree that the GB piano is not great, I have heard some other people record using Ivory and that sounds excellent. BUT: If I had a real piano at home I would play that a lot more than the clav. Thanks for stopping by. [ Reply to This ]

mmmmm &mdash 05/10/07 - 09:18:20 AM
quite a thoughtful piece. i like it when folks decide to do a song NOT according to formula. the reverb has a life of its own - and works beautifully here. i enjoyed the ear journey - anne [ Reply to This ]
Anne &mdash 05/10/07 - 02:14:46 PM
Thanks for listening. I'd like to take full credit for the idea of leaving out the drums, but a recent thread here about use of drums loops advised restraint or removal if you couldn't make the drums a truly integral part of the song. I played it both ways for my wife and the this is what she liked best. [ Reply to This ]
Great sound... &mdash 05/11/07 - 10:28:01 PM
and very nice playing. It's probably a tribute to your (and your wife's) judgement that I can barely imagine drums on here now! Peace. [ Reply to This ]

relaxation by having listened to this tune. &mdash 05/28/07 - 08:05:26 AM
I feel the charm in Harmony that the Electric piano of this tune plays with the
guitar very much.
And, I was able to obtain considerable relaxation by having listened to this tune.
Thank you very much. [ Reply to This ]

Cascading &mdash 05/29/07 - 03:01:47 PM
That is what comes to my mind when I listen. Just the focus of the flow. Sometimes gushing other times slow and steady. Visions of water fountains in the big city with colored lights shining through with alternating water strengths. Yes, a pretty picture you've painted here. Enjoyed this one. [ Reply to This ]

Great stuff &mdash 06/05/07 - 03:17:16 PM
As it is now it works very well without drums. But maybe if a bass was introduced here, some drums would have something to hang on to... [ Reply to This ]

Maybe a Light Shuffle &mdash 06/11/07 - 09:16:57 PM
I agree with Under Kover. Some rides or something, nothing really thumpy, would take this song to the next level. But I really like it as it is, at the same time. It's very simple and clean. [ Reply to This ]
1rwhite1 &mdash 06/12/07 - 02:46:33 PM
Simple is what I do best. Summer is coming and once I catch up with yard work I can get a good block of time and see if I can add some percussion touches without loops. Thanks for stopping by. [ Reply to This ]
i like this &mdash 06/19/07 - 01:37:33 PM
i like this, but yea drums would sound very nice in here, i'd play around with the drum loop, and the different drum types to see what sound you like the best... i've also learned that sometimes its better to scrap the drum loop you used for tempo, and make an entirely new one for the song, it'll at times give a whole new look into the song you're makin..

Bill, the harmony! &mdash 06/21/07 - 03:00:28 AM
The simple harmonies in here are really moving. I like the way you stack the notes up in the guitar line, piano line, and chords.
Cool stripped down production too, especially on the piano. It has a very live feel, and you know I like that.
There are some notes in the guitar that I'd like to hear with a bit less sustain on the delay, but that's the only downside I hear in this piece. It's quite nice.

on the drums &mdash 06/21/07 - 03:03:28 AM
I think the success of the drum loop depends on which loop you're using. It sounds so free with no drums; it's a very cool, different sound. Can you post another version with drums? Can I try a remix of this with some drums? Drop me a line if you think so.
