This is a headphone song for sure so sit back and relax and enjoy the head trip.
This song is a record I have from the 50's on motivational speaking . I slowed it down and tweaked it chopped it up and played with it but left it mostly intacted . The monk chanting is all me and then the drums are loops . as well as various other little thingies in there .

Lyrics:
Please listen to this with headphones and love in your heart : )

Definitely a tasty bit of headphone candy. The altered voice from you motivational recording actually comes across as rather creepy when coupled with the vocals you added. Such interesting sonic bit sprinkled througout. Lots of fun.

LOVE IT DUDE! &mdash 05/05/07 - 04:16:01 AM
Man, I have had this playing for the last few minutes and drifted off whilst working away. I had to bring myself out of a meditated state to ask myself what I was doing, where I was, and who's music I was listening too!

That track works for me man. Thanks a lot! I will be playing this for a while dude and passing it on to some of the guys here in the office that know not of MJ%u2019s. In saying that man, they think I am far out hippy that found himself in war!

Maybe they are right - funny how life works out.

Loved the track toast, cheers.

This record you are now playing.... &mdash 05/07/07 - 08:58:10 AM
....is another example of the Completion Backward Principle.

Have you ever come across that album by the Tubes? Pretty good music, but instead of a long-hair pop band, they pretend to be some business consultancy. The album starts with a soundbyte from a similar motivational record. "Please play both sides at one meeting". Fun.

Ok, you've put this in "experimental". I'd say the experiment has succeeded. Very interesting sounding result. It has a mesmerizing quality. I guess I could try to understand the spoken voice, but it's much more fun to interpret it as a weird bubbly synthesizer.

The rest of the arrrangement sounds good too. I guess you could put a bass under it, but a track this different does not really require the usual standard ingredients. I mean, why a bass? Why not a marimba. Just to name something.

Good work.

Very nice Vicy D &mdash 05/07/07 - 09:01:17 PM
Yeah I was kinda going for the music soundtrack in a dream sorta thing ......The spoken voice was ment to be forgotten at points and then remembered like oh yeah what was he talking about ? Then get lost in the noise again . I love what I call lucid music Like Phish and the dead . When you totally forget that there playing a song jam out then come back to it ! Tis was the feel I was goin for . Indeed thanx for the listen and the comment : )

Wow ____ &mdash 05/08/07 - 10:29:38 PM
This is interesting stuff here. Not real sure how to take it except I hear "my imagination" ringing in my ears. I think I'm going to hear it in my sleep. Does this have a subliminal message? I thought I heard "Drink Coke" in there....? Man I'm thirsty all the sudden. Maybe I'm going to have to listen a few more times to see. In the mean time I gonna grab me a Coke and listen again. (lol) Nice job Dj.

Thanks for sharing,

mvh : )

Hey Dj!!! &mdash 06/17/07 - 04:09:19 PM
This is wonderful! So F_____ cool! I need some headphones! All your songs are very creative and well thought out. Your lyrics are Real, and Raw, and as you said to me, so beautifully, "It's an expression of the streets. It's the street kids telling, as awful as it is,the Truth." Their truth, but you've built this bridge for me to cross over - to learn a new perspective - a way to understand yet one more part of my world in more depth. And I also love the rhythm of your lyrics - the rhythm of your voice becomes an instrument in the song, as well as the message! And I'm glad I've gotten to know you on a deeper level - I read the Shel Silverstein poem in your Bio first - before I listened to the music. e-mail you again soon. You have an amazingly beautiful soul, Ben.

Headphones &mdash 07/23/07 - 10:28:59 AM
I think any piece of music that someone clearly put a lot of heart and soul into, in order to be properly digested MUST be witnessed through the quiet comfort and truth of headphones. No piece of music operating at this level deserves the cruel and unholy fate of being heard through....ugh....speakers. eeeeewwwwwweeee!!!
This has me completely enveloped.
I'm surprised these words are from the fifties. Pretty touchy feely stuff for those days.
I really like this.
-Rain

Not that they're really similar or anything but check out a track called "self help program" by MJ artist filthy.
It's not soothing or "helpful" like your piece, but there's a bit of genious running through it. I almost made duty in my pants the first time he played it for me (we were room mates in those days).
Also, you may enjoy a track of mine called "The Cycle Repeats". You've managed to achieve exactly what I set out to do with it, but fell a little short of. This is better, but mines not too shabby. I think.
I need a coffee.
Peace,
-Rain
