Description:
with this tune i had recently gotten a Bb harmonica and i wanted to create a loop so i could mess around with the harp and see how it could sound. the bass line was first played on a guitar than i programmed it into gb with the upright jazz bass and messed around with its sound a little bit. the complimentary harmony on guitar i think is what makes the tune what it is, the phrase is long and multidimensional and i think it works very well over the bass line. the shaker and everything not midi was recorded thru the mic onboard my computer and im pleased with the final product ... let me know what you think!

Reflective &mdash 05/06/07 - 07:24:45 PM
Hello, welcome to Macjams. this is great work! It would make for a great theme song for those quiet moments, when one reflects on life. Two things, though: The blues harp seems a bit louder than the other instruments in some areas; and the song ends rather abruptly. I was just settling in and enjoying it, when it stopped like a speaker stopping in mid-sentence. My absolute favorite part, however, is the guitar. I really like what you're doing there. And I agree with you: The guitar "makes the tune what it is." Keep up the great work and I look forward to listening to more of your music.

Maybe I am to car oriented, but it makes me see someone driving cros country in a convertible. Contemplating something that just happened that they have no control over and realizing that that is ok. But i have to agree with 1rwhite1, it kind of knocked me out of that little reverie whith the rather abrupt end. That said it was very enjoyable.
sorry if this shows up more than once (butter fingers)

the image you got as you listened to the song isn't something i necessary went for, but as i listen to it again i can see where you are coming from and it adds a whole different dimension to the music. as i wrote it i just wanted something harmonious and melodic and it sort of evolved to a character driving down a highway having a pretty heavy paradigm shift ... thanks!

I really like this... &mdash 05/08/07 - 10:24:45 AM
...got a very soft spot in my heart for guitar and harp. You did it right here.

One small point (if I may?): Bass and guitar together on one side with the harp on the other side seemed a tiny bit unbalanced. At the end, just before going back to the bass line alone (which is so sweet), the guitar (I love the guitar) moves a bit more center stage for just a second. Just my personal taste...but it seemed a shade clearer and happier there.

Deepest respect.

Beautiful piece. Well played/engineered.

thanks for the input .. whenever i create a tune i think of where the insturments are being played in real space and not in the digital realm and i try to pan accordingly ... i appreciate your remarks alot and i thank you for listening and ill take another look to see if i could make it clearer ...

thanks alot !

I'm not a recording guy, by any means. Hope you see this as my own personal flavor of the moment. Deepest respect for your art. Anybody else (including, of course, yourself) could see/hear/feel it differently.

this is another fine piece of guitar work. I don't know what I was expecting from the harmonica, but I like what you did even better than what I was expecting. Know what I mean? Bass sounded nice with the guitar.

Are these your photos on your songs?
