Lyrics
hey man, you know how it feels, to love and not be loved
hey girl, you know how to steal my heart and not let go.

i turned a corner in my life
when your love hit me on the blind side
i placed my dreams up on the shelf
i turned around and saw myself

Hey girl, you know how it feels, to love and not be loved
Hey man, you know how to steal her heart and not let go

making changes in her life
when your love hit her by surprise
she put her dreams up on the shelf
she turned around and saw herself

hey girl, you know how it feels, to love and not be loved
hey girl, you know how it feels, to love and not be loved
hey girl, you know how it feels, to love and not be loved
hey girl, you know how it feels, to love and not be loved

Boy, do I know....
Sweet song, and expressing probably a universal feeling. Kudos.

I do have a gripe with the arrangement: you have an acoustic guitar, piano, and electric guitar all playing the same rhythm. The same chords. The flute plays the top notes of the guitar melody. The vocal melody is in fact with some embellishments the same melody.

I think I like some independence between my instruments.

But hey, you get marks for earnestness and keeping the song short and sweet.

a classic
Jim, this song has qualities to become a true classic. Simple but very effective. Very nice treatment of the vocals and the megaphone effect is a good move and suits the song very well. A wonderful melody that is instantly catchy. Big bravo!

Cool
Hey Jim, your voive reminded me of the guy out of Cracker, and I liked it immediately. Your voice has real character, that and the vocal effect give this song some edge, which I really like. Very commmercial in a use-it-in-a -tv=show kinda way, and a really nice (but not too swwet or sickly) song.

I echo ....
.. was has already been said about the vocal FX ... like em ! Luv the panning .. almost like you were whispering in my ear .... (well both ears actually) .... I didn't even know there was a genre called "romantic" until I stumbled across this one ... and a hint of advice .... you should tell the wife that this song is "about her" ... shhhhh one day you guys will learn all the wife rules ...

Good un'

fine mix, great lyrics, well performed... skillful use of effects on the vocals too. Do I detect a hint of "Jealous guy" in some bits of that flute melody (starting around 02:01)... hmm, just me most likely.

Got a sweet Lennon/Floydish cross to my ears overall- I liked it.

Jim, I'm impressed!
Lovely post, well played/sung and (I guess I should have expected this) excellent production/mixing/mastering etc etc.

No nits.

Such a cool little song.

very nice
I have always felt like it is so cool when a man writes his feelings down and puts it into music like you have here. Tender, raw emotions. This is a great song. I enjoyed your singing and the overall performance. (I have to agree with Alannah...this song is about your wife)

This is sweet.
It's okay to have feelings stirred but as Paul Newman said , "Why go out for hamburger when you have steak at home?" The song is for your wife. Nice vocal and fx.
Thanks.
