Description:
Today was full of problems and nuisances, and even if I have a lot of work still left, I had the urge to play my keyboard and watch all my cares melt away as the music came out of my fingers. Played as a first run improvisation with a sweet melody jumbled with dissonant notes to add some contrast....straight from the soul.....

Beautiful-and elegant lounge like music... &mdash 05/08/07 - 03:56:04 PM
Filled with romance and nostalgia. Very spontaneous and passionate performance from you on this one Enrique.
I heard some crackling sounds - maybe redining? Otherwise well done.

Numero...dos &mdash 05/08/07 - 09:46:57 PM
Enrique,
Ok. So you took me up on the challenge!!! What a very soothing and pretty score. And I find your style of playing to be so very comfortable, almost like I am hearing the music live...fluid, relaxing, and confident. I am only disappointed because the number was so short. I hope you will forge ahead with these mercurial pieces. I feel a stunning album coming. How wonderful to hear some great piano music here. :)
Peace. Paul
(Though it would be about a $300 expense, have you thought of looking into Ivory keyboard software? Your music is worth it. Tell whoever controls the dough that I said so!!! Best of luck. I look forward to hearing more from you.) [ Reply to This ]
Thank you &mdash 05/08/07 - 10:40:16 PM
great words coming from you. My wife has been with our kids groups to Iceland, England, Check Republic, Poland, Germany and Austria where their groups (quite accomplished high school string and symphonic bands) have played in many churches and she tells me the emotion of being there and having your own kids playing there brings tears to your eyes. The Ox (me) had to stay home and produce the dough for the trip though. Having played the instrument Mozart himself played as tou had the honor of doing, is something I can't even begin to imagine. Cheers! [ Reply to This ]
I hope you don't mind... &mdash 05/09/07 - 03:00:29 PM
...but I really have to bring some composers to mind: Chopin and Rachmaninof in particular. There's also a subtle undercurrent of a jazz ballad in here, too.
And the best part is that they're only a part of the music. It all comes together quite nicely as your own...
I've been thinking of that Yamaha Clavinova for my daughter. How do you like the action? The sound's wonderful.

Hello there! &mdash 05/09/07 - 10:45:12 PM
Thanks for your comments. I am glad you liked it. We have an old vertical piano my 17 yo daughter loves. We also have the CVP-98 Clavinova, which I really like. It all depends what you want it for. Nothing beats an acoustic piano for sound and keyboard "tactile good feeling sensation". The Clavinova keyboard is wonderful but my daughter does not like the keyboard feeling because is no as "natural" as a regular piano. If your daughter takes piano lessons she may be better off with an acoustic, but the Clavinova is so versatile! I suggest both of you go to a Piano Store and have her try a Clavinova and then an acoustic piano with the same piece. Godd luck! [ Reply to This ]
Thanks... &mdash 05/10/07 - 09:54:46 AM
...brought it up with her last night. She's stuck on our upright. Finally practicing regularly without me hounding her. I was thinking of the Yamaha for the headphones and keeping the upright, too.
She likes it so much that she turned down my mother's offer of my dad's Chickering baby grand. But that's a whole 'nother story...

Bringing it all out &mdash 05/11/07 - 11:56:03 AM
Various commentators have suggested your music sounds like a number of different classical composers, but to me it sounds like you've gotten well beyond the stage of imitation - that you are composing original music where aspects of classical music are weaving in and out of your soundscapes, but what's coming out is your own, unique musical tapestries.
I admire (well, the correct word would be "envy") your lightness of touch at the keyboard. The subtleties in your playing are delightful.
I think you can see a rapid growth in quality of performance and production from your initial postings - which is not only a demonstration of your creative talent, but also a testimony to the effect participation in this online community can have on reclusive musicians: it helps bring out the best in us. Hi Warren &mdash 05/11/07 - 05:19:37 PM
You are absolutely right about this wonderful community. I was kind of embarrased and shy to post my first song, but people like Drakonis, Bernd Rover, Paul Page, Amagi, Composer Clark, Bowman, Tobin Mueller, Guitapic (Bob), Rick W, Roxylee and many others have encouraged many of us and added constructive criticism and helpful comments and hints that help us make better music. Thank you to all of you! [ Reply to This ]

I love it when someones technique and mastery takes us way past the place of noticing how good someone is, to that place of communicating on an emotional level... even though your playing is as good as it gets... the work you've doen seems to be about so much more than that... someone mentioned nostalgia... it struck the same chord with me... it took me back somewhere... only Glimpses [ Reply to This ]

I'm so impressed that this is an improvised piece. It really shows how comfortable you are at the keyboard. It is a piece full of relaxed energy. Like a cup of hot tea in a comfy chair at the end of a day. I will be looking for more of these pieces. This is really a little gem! [ Reply to This ]

I tend to make... &mdash 05/18/07 - 02:56:23 PM
...a lot of racket...but it's what I do best. Classical style piano is obviously what you do best and I love it!
I have always loved classical piano. When I was much younger I was a huge fan of Liszt. On the other hand I've always had a soft spot for the wilder interpretations of Keith Emerson.
Anyway, pieces like this one give me another opportunity to stop and smell the sonic roses. It is at once joyful and soothing. This type of music will always be relevant through all the pomp and glitter of flash-in-the-pan musical fads. I'm glad folks like yourself, Tobin Mueller and Paul F. Page (among others) are keeping this tradition alive and fresh here at MJ. BRAVO AND ENCORE!
Be well! [ Reply to This ]
Hi Amagi &mdash 05/24/07 - 12:50:28 AM
is good to hear from you again. I am unable to play with my music or check macjams.com as often as I'd like because of multiple obligations in my real life job but is always a pleasure to check in and see notes from fellow macjamers. Usually I can't do much here except every 3 weeks during my time off work. Again thank you for your comments and I'll see you around..bye. [ Reply to This ]
