Description:
At some point we tried dabbling with electronic sounds. The opening sound on this one immediately triggered the topic and the lyrics where written in five minutes (its shows a bit). Could be better sung, I guess.

Lyrics:
Peace and love sign on my helmet
Wearing rounds and rounds of bullets
Shooting blind through the jungle
I do no count the ones I kill

I ‘m flying over vietnam
flying away from home
On a cloud of napalm
Further away from home

I’m the doorgunner
I feel the monsoon air
On my thousand yard stare
For ever and ever

I picture you as you lay there
Hit by friendly fire
Looking up through the shattered green
Your limbs so full of gangrene

Great sounds &mdash 05/10/07 - 07:02:51 AM
Nice guitar (and other!) sounds. I like the guitar twinning the vocal. Could be better sung? Maybe. But I think you can always think that. To me, the vocal is effective, but could be a little more up in the mix. Nice work. Peace.

I think your voice sounds its most natural (pretty), and agree that I would like to hear it more in the mix. Reminds me of *Apocalypse Now* - that helicopter/gun shooting sound. And that guitar that twangs around your vocals makes the point where the friendly fire comes in sound like a beautiful sadness. And oh, the sad voice and sad sounds mix with the cruel helicopter/gun electronics.....such is war. Song has some emotional power.

the end &mdash 05/11/07 - 07:17:12 AM
Indeed, I had the beginning of "Apocalypse now" in mind. I'm glad you found this emotional, because it's rather a string of clichés, until the change of perspective and "shattered green" image which is a bit more concrete.

Electronics &mdash 05/11/07 - 07:53:38 AM
Very effective use of these electronic sounds. As estellie said, it makes a helicopter sound that adds to the imagery of your lyrics. I too find it a very sad and beautiful song.

it came from the sounds indeed. When Brentfod sent me this, I don't know what he had in mind, but I was "there" in five seconds, and could almost feel the stifling breeze on my sweaty face. I hope the song somehow conveys a little bit of this sensation.
