Description:
We ripped this song out in about three hours. I'm not sure on the mix (as usual) but it sure does sound great on reference monitors. In fact its my best mix ever, but when I listen to it in the car I'm not as happy. Sigh, the pain of mixing.

Rich Huston (Bass, Mix)
Chris Winters (Guitar, Vocals, Lyrics)

Lyrics:
Cold Comfort
(Lyrics: Chris Winters, Music: Chris Winters, Rich Huston)

Where were we when we started
This affair before?
Inhibitions at the door
They won’t follow me
Together again my freind
My bitter, sweeter love
It’s honey from above in heaven

Another day, another night
I’m no longer so sure
This gray unsightly blur
Is all I see
Push away, another fight
With me against my will
My medicine for ill
Or for better

You think you know me but it’s just not so
You think I need you but I just let go
I think you tricked me just to keep me ‘round
I think you’ll leave me buried underground

I’m warm inside when you’re around
Your whisperend come-ons block out all the sound
But it’s cold comfort for my soul
To know I’m digging my own hole

Great song &mdash 05/10/07 - 10:15:38 PM
nicely realized. I love the vocal performance - is "Bowiesque" a word? I think the mix is good (disclaimer - I know nothing about mixing) although some of the guitars seem a bit "distant" in parts, which is a pity because there's some great playing on here. Fades out rather quickly. Nice song. Good work. Peace.

comforting to know &mdash 05/10/07 - 11:24:58 PM
sure is a funky uptempo piece. pretty well mixed. may need a bit more bottom end the lead vocal could go down a tad so the rest of the instruments don't sound far back in the mix. minor issue with minor fix.

Great tunes as always. BTW i just realized I'm on the other side of the state from you guys.

Great up-beat track guys ... really sweeping and up tempo ... can hear strings on this. Mix wise, i'd totally agree with Vic on this, though I do agree Rich it's one of the best you've done. Structure wise, I think this is a little odd (so nornmal for you, then). The first 2 verses are very catchy, but then they don't appear after the first bridge ... I would've liked to have heard it again. love the guitar and bass, and the spooky backing vox are great!

Missed this one, too &mdash 05/15/07 - 04:48:17 AM
Think you've got some nice production quality on all all your songs. Think I'll add this one to my library.
How do you feel about being compared to Bowie?(vocally)
One little thing:Agree with dajama about his guitar comments, a little distant.
Well done
LL

Bowie comparison &mdash 05/15/07 - 12:36:28 PM
You know, if you have to be compared to a singer, you can't do much worse than Bowie. He is one of the all time great vocalist and lyrcist.

song - sounds like two songs really. The mix sounds pretty good on my computer set-up, perhaps the guitars are a little distant - but the vocals are nice and clear. Love those catchy verses - I think this will take a good few listens to fully appreicate. The understated drums carry this along nicely to the rather sudden end (although I quite like that as it's unexpected).
