Description:
well.. This is my first solo on guitar ever to be recorded. In fact I even kind of like it.
Ill finish it after I get out of the studio.
If anyone wants to sing or hears something. Drop me a line. And of course this is full of mistake and just a demo..but this one I like

Solo &mdash 05/11/07 - 02:37:27 PM
The solo sounds great. The rhythm guitar and horns combine to form a pretty tight arrangement. Thanks for sharing.

Love the intro &mdash 05/12/07 - 02:28:31 PM
That sudden burst of sound has a great effect. Some nice bass playing on here, and that solo is pretty damn good. Nice guitar sound, and good dynamics. Do you plan to add lyrics to this? I think they'd sound good. Glad I came across your stuff! Nice work. Peace.

you should do more like it &mdash 05/12/07 - 02:51:20 PM
For your first solo recorded this is actually pretty good. I'm really enjoying it. I could have done without the horns though (or maybe some live horns).

great job &mdash 05/14/07 - 06:05:33 PM
good chord progression, like the syncopation. It would be cool if you could get a real trumpet sound rather than a software instrument

It builds nicely. It kept my interest the whole way! Rock on!

Very solid song base... &mdash 05/18/07 - 07:39:43 AM
...with lots of room for vox/etc. Surprised that's your first solo. Rocked, dude!
I'd volunteer a part...but I'm solid into the acoustic for the time being. Looking forward to "further enhancements" from others, though.

Hey, &mdash 05/19/07 - 03:06:05 AM
Very cool demo there. Definitely worth adding lyrics/vocals. Nice guitar work, too. When you started grabbing the bends it totally had that Neil Young "Southern Man" guitar solo vibe. Very nice.

Obviously real horns would be nice, but most of us don't have access to a real heal horn section. As far as the musical idea of horn hits there, it packs a punch and works great.

The only thing that doesn't work for me is the weird offbeat sixteenth note percussion part. I know syncopation is generally good, and it's nice to have something interesting and unique going on with the percussion, but somehow the percussion and the chord changes seem to be fighting each other with grooves that don't quite line up.

But if that feeling of unease is what you were going for, then feel free to ignore me!

I meant to comment on this when I heard it, which was a while ago. I like it. Very upbeat and brassy, which is not necessarily my style, but wow - great guitar and bass! Can't wait to hear it finished! Enjoy your studio time!

Lava likes &mdash 06/01/07 - 04:54:13 AM
I really like the core of this song very open for vocal. The beginning Dum dum dum dum. I don't know about that. Maybe add a little to it or change it.
Grea solo, but it abrubtly ends into that dum dum dum dum.
Overall very good.

Has that almost &mdash 06/01/07 - 08:47:21 PM
On Broadway Gorge Benson feel at the beginning and a Tower of Power - Chicago sound then back to the theme.

Nice, and the percussion give it a running feel.

Killer guitar solo - &mdash 06/22/07 - 09:19:49 PM
you should hit more often. Very intersting production all around actually. I also hear a little Townsend in the rhythm guitar. Nice dynamics with the horns - and of course - the bass rocks.

This track has a great vibe. Could be a theme song for a 60s cop show. I can see the freeze frames right now, during the opening credits.

Cool but Odd &mdash 06/29/07 - 04:27:11 PM
Cool components but changes were kind of harsh to me. The percussion threw me way off at first but them came more into line. I'm thinking maybe working with different drum tracks might work the changes better, perhaps introducing them with some kind of fills. It's screaming for vocals.

Back to being cool components as I don't want this to read like some massive slam. The simple chord moves for the verse were a great choice and a great sound. Some thought you should have real horns for the bring it on chorus but I'm the opposite on that. I'd rather have more synth sound than less, not to get into some Pink Floyd knock-off but rather that it just sounds cool! Anyway, I thought that part came on great and sounded good too. Sounded like you were flying without a parachute on the lead and that's a compliment, finest kind of guitar playing.

Great job overall and I'll be interested to hear how the final works up.
