Description:
i was feeling kinda sorry for myself the other day...and then saw feter in chat. we chatted for a bit and i thought, "there is as big a blues fan as there is on the planet earth"...and he is living thru a more terrible circumstance than i can even dream. I don't imagine i would have the grace or courage he displays if i was in his shoes.

I had this blues groove all recorded...been sitting around waiting for me to do somthing with it...so ...thinking of feter...i picked up pearl the strat, and played some slide for him.

here ya go feter...i hope it brightens your day abit. I hope peace comes to you soon, my friend!!

warmest regards
z

I'm a big fan of Feter McBlues and consider him a good friend as well. He is a great talent and a great big and warm heart. He is frequently in my thoughts and prayers...You have done a really nice thing here Fran and I'm sure it will make his day! It made mine.

Be well!

way to go zetes &mdash 05/11/07 - 11:13:33 PM
... for Feter, the bluesman of Iraq. Sliding along through the bluesland he lives in via the fat slide of Z.

...how you've transferred the tone shaping of that li'l ol' pick you use right to your fingers. Nice colors, z.

Cheers and best of everything to feter. Great tribute, fran...

hhahaha &mdash 05/12/07 - 10:16:15 AM
fooled ya....one of the other secrets to playing slide for me is REAL MEN DONT USE PICKS...(thanks shakey)

fingerpicking all the slide stuff, bob. the meat of the fingers and the glass are very warm, very round sounding. And since I have chosen the Strat for my main slide guitar, you have to fatten and warm up the sound quite a bit. I have also been rolling the tone knob back to about 7 and playing in the 2 position of the 5 position toggle on the strat. I have always loved Duane and Derek Trucks playing very much, but I am trying to have a bit of a different voice with it. So the strat tone is going away from their humbucking fattness.
It's sort of a Bonnie Raitt with PMS sound.

I am really having fun with it. Played the electric live with the band on a gig for the first time ever at my last show two weeks ago!...I have been neglecting my regular guitar practice!

ooops...after re-reading &mdash 05/12/07 - 10:22:42 AM
thank you...i missed the "transfered"....yes you got it was fingers huh?...any way...the tone is one of my tones that i use live...4a on the POD...hehehe...if i recall it is a "Fender Twin" sample...adjusted to the tortuted level...to me it sounds like the tiny Harmony amp i had when i was in high school....I used to crank it to death..and it would sound like it was about to explode. I loved the feel of that then, and all my efforts to duplicate that ambience are just too damn loud for human consumption...but this setting thru the AMPEG reverbrocket it scary.

a good slide. The tone is so...........right. what else can you call it. very cool licks. I don't know about real men don't use picks but I do prefer the sound without hem. Maybe thats because I can't use one to save my life.

Nice slide leads, man... and that wahky rhythm guitar and groove. Great playing and dedication, z!

I love it when... &mdash 05/13/07 - 02:24:59 PM
...you manage to squeeze some territory out of the blues that I haven't seen it yield up before...

This sounds bluesy as all get out, but it doesn't sound like any other particular blues I can name.... Juxtaposing the wah against the slide against the solid riff in the bass just seems to work while sounding just a little different...

Time for that world tour...

Ed

Z hasn't been the same &mdash 05/15/07 - 10:02:52 AM
since the slide came into his life. :)
Your gonna have to give a name her ! How about Slida or glassy, if brass how about Brassy Sassy. You just can't name your guitars, their children need names to! Or should I say relatives.

Every time I hear your stuff, you always entertain.

Gregg would like this for sure I think. Gregg Allman, I can practically hear him singing on this.

Wat to go Z!

Great stuff Fran, and you couldn't do a nicer thing than to slide this BluesVibe over to Feter, what a big heart you have! Seeing these acts of friendship happen gives me hope. I bow to a couple of great musicians here.
