Description
Siguro - GAM pride in the face of a lot of BS from the few white guys who
try to treat young gay Asian men like chattel. For my friends in Tokyo's Shinjuku NiChome, keep up the fight for an equal footing ;)

Lyrics
Kanji Yamoto got chest from hell
His tummy ripples you can always tell
Spiky blacktop with his golden tips
Meshy T-shirt over freeter nips
Sometimes he's a lily, sometimes he's a tiger
He'll rip you open if you move closer
And he's dancin' with this salariman
Shinjuku Ni-Chome with his sensei plans
He's waitin' for his genki lad
Maybe maybe that makes me sad
Hai hai hai hai, yeah yaya ya ya
Rice queens are fatter from their glut
The boys are sliding through their Bankok rut
And there's a facade in the air
You must be so passive so they play fair
Boy coy lazy it drives 'em wild
Typhoon anger beneath his smile
We're crazy for that Pusan guy
Maybe maybe he might catch his eye
Skin of almond, heart of jade
"I'm getting of this old cliche"
Hai hai hai hai, yeah ya ya ya ya
And he's waiting on the Manila Street
Siguro melting in this heat
Yes he's waitin for his Taipei lad
Maybe maybe that makes us sad
Notes:
1) Shinjuku Nichome is Japan's larges and most obvious gay district. Even so, it is more about bars than community organizations -of which there are not many- and it empties out during the day to almost a ghost town.
2) "genki" is a Japanese word that means "I'm fine" or in good health BUT it is also a kind of enforced attitude that means to put on a happy face - especially at work - whether you feel that way or not.
3) A "freeter" is a style of youth culture in Japan which means "free thinking" and often the style is that of dyed hair, ultra-trendy fashion, and a general attitude of non-comformity. Some are uni grads who choose to work two or three part time jobs and travel the world rather than join the corporate army of confomist salarimen. [although most gay men are salarimen rather than freeters]
4) "sensei" is the Japanese word for professional used for doctors, teachers, lawyers etc.
5) "rice queen" is a slang term for a white guy who is predominantly into Asian men only. Used affectionately it is just and indicator of racial preference of GWMs (gay white males) who like GAM (gay Asian males) ; used perjoratively however it is abut generally older, less-than-in-shape white males who seek younger Asian men mainly for sexual gratification. [I know, I know; so many friggin' labels in my community eh!]
This whole tune (part three of the Keonji Sessions) is about the rise in the late 90s of Gay Asian Pride (see Fridae.com for details of rapid social changes in Asia) and how many GAM are finding the self worth and pride - which helps them avoid the more exploitative types who think "skin of almond" is an aphrodisiac and Thailand and NiChome as playgrounds for their libido...but, from my observations, there is still away to go.
