it is good &mdash 05/15/07 - 11:58:57 PM
a fugue is quite difficult to write. this one is good. the parts generally fit well together. the ending is weak, however it is an impressive start. 0x0

Fugues are tough. I've never tried them. Yours is delightful. You have talent. Hope to hear more of your music. Thanks for sharing!

Great &mdash 05/18/07 - 02:39:16 AM
Wonderful! I love it. It has lots of the JS Bach-ish progressions, still it is you own thing. Beautiful!

Like your other fugue... &mdash 05/19/07 - 11:07:08 PM
...I enjoyed this. You have an innate talent for fugues. I think It's the way certain brains are wired. My only qualm was the ornamentation which my ears found a little rigid.
Still very good work.
Best,
Bowman

The fugue... &mdash 05/20/07 - 07:22:41 PM
...is probably the single-most difficult classical form in which to write successfully. There are only a handful of composers who ever pulled it off consistently well: Bach and Shostakovich are the two who come to mind...
And now there's Gisli. I hope you will continue to experiment in this form. You seem to have a good ear for it. At such a slow tempo, the trills don't come across as very "fluid;" you might try a simple mordent to give yourself some zip at those spots. I am so pleased that there are a few more people submitting piano music here. Look forward to hearing more of your posts.

Coming from your second fugue... &mdash 05/29/07 - 02:57:56 PM
... I am impressed by the first one. Just because you choose the perfect speed it shows it's typical wonderful structure. Nice, really nice!

Chapeau!

Bernd
