Description:
This is a remixed version of a song i did with Tan (Wildcat) a couple of months ago. We both redid our singing parts, i added some saxophone lines and changed some little accents in the production and orchestration. It completes the tracks on my upcoming CD, which will be ready and done in about two or three weeks.

Thanks for listening...

Lyrics:
The sea is layering the sun
Reflecting reddish light
These lovers shortly will be gone
To spend a perfect night

And who am I to interfere
To interrupt their smiles
To feel again that you are near
I’d walk three hundred miles

Undergo the wind that blows
While following its trace
Every step that you will take
Will lead you to my place

Undisclosed, this secret’s veiled
No promises, no ache
Both of us, too blind to see
The path that it will take

So many people walking by
I love this crowded place
And when I close my eyes I try
To capture your embrace

The sea keeps singing to my soul
Oh gosh, I like this song
The water’s making us a whole
Again where I belong

I’ll send my lyrics to a star
The shyest in the blue
It doesn’t matter where you are
I will belong to you

wow! I didn't hear the original, but the saxophone seems integral to me - I can't imagine the song without it. Both voices are absolutely gorgeous. The mood is palpable, and the lyrics very real and well-done. Amazing song.

In fact it was Tan's idea to integrate the sax. And i have to admit that it really works. Glad that you like the mood and the lyrics, Estella. Makes me a very happy man...

I was so blown away by your last song... Thanks again for the very supporting comment. And yes, lots of people think Tan and i have matching voices. When you have the time and the courage, you might want to check out two fun songs we did together with Datafunk (on Datafunk's page).

I'm not much of a sax player, you know :) Just enough to embellish a song a bit. But be sure your words are very much appreciated. Thanks a million for passing by and listening!

...you never cease to amaze me. This is a great collab. Your & Tan's vocals go so well together. The sultry saxophone adds an extra dimension to this wonderfully dark sound bed.
The orchestration is top notch.
Many Thanks, my friend!

Excellent &mdash 05/17/07 - 07:13:17 PM

great collab this. Well thought through - I haven't heard
any previous version .. but that sax is such an asset and
integral part. Super silky and sexy/sassy vocals from
Tanya just as you'ld expect. The opening gave me a hint
of "Don't speak" by No Doubt, with a Breakfast in America/Supertramp sound... but that was just that
riff on the keys really .. it quickly diversified quite
radically and was so much more interesting. Walter is
as solid as ever of course.

Dark romance .. in a private detectives involved kinda way ;o) enjoyed it, you work well together.

Thanks for this wonderful comment. And yes, Tan sounds extremely sexy here, doesn't she? Her voice also evolved so much since her first uploads about a year ago now. So i thought the time was right for a new version of our duet. Glad i did...

interesting remix &mdash 05/17/07 - 07:59:02 PM
with additional adornments. truly created a big sound while keeping the simplicity intact. really loved that sax solo on top of everything else.

good luck with the cd.

...thanks for popping in and lending your ear again! To be honest... that CD really gets me nervous. I doubted so long to have it done, and now that it's almost there, i get more and more unsure about it all. Perhaps i listened to much while remixing all my stuff, and now i'm bored with it, haha!

Excellent post, beautifully done &mdash 05/17/07 - 11:15:50 PM
The sax adds a lot to this - I loved the original, but the sax just lifts it. Perfect mix and production - so how long did the CD take you to get to the "... in about two or three weeks" stage? ;)

oops! &mdash 05/17/07 - 11:18:45 PM
I sent the comment before the echo ending - can I humbly suggest a slightly quicker fade of the echo for the CD? It seems to keep going too loud to my ears rather than dropping off like a real echo - sounds more like a repeat than an echo. Does that make sense??
Cheers,
Neil

Neil... &mdash 05/19/07 - 04:17:28 AM
yes, i recall you commented on the echo in the first version. Well, just for you, i will enhance it on the CD version :-) But you're right about it, and i'm glad you're pointing it out.

The re-mixing and production of the songs on my CD didn't take that long. Of course i'm not a pro, and for sure there will be a lot of space for improvement when you you'll hear it. But most of all i wanted to keep 'the soul' of each song, rather than concentrating on a perfectly crispy sound result. Anyway, i don't have that competention :-)

Thanks so much for passing by again, Neil. You know how much i appreciate that!

Great chord progression &mdash 05/18/07 - 06:57:22 PM
The start with the unpretentious piano, gets very tasty together with the unexpected chord progression that happens. The sax that appears, is smooth and sexy... Once again, I get a detective (Poirot) series feeling. I must have seen some TV series with sax in the theme song to many times;)

Your voices go great together.

Great production, and more important... good music:)

European sultriness &mdash 05/19/07 - 06:32:12 AM
What a fabulous track, Walter. The vocals on this are great, Wildacts voice and your own combine to give this a real european sultriness, almost a noirish feeling. Lovely sax solo, but what gets me is the production on this ... vvery crisp and clean - was this all done on GB3? If so, what you got out of this is extraordinary.

Let me know when the cd is out and where I can get it from ..this is late night music of the highest calibre!

Steve... &mdash 05/19/07 - 11:50:42 AM
Yes, everything performed, recorded and produced in GB3. Twelve tracks, which is already way too much for a moorlandt song (i like it simple and clean:-). No big abracadabra i guess, just balancing the tracks until they sound good in the ears.

For sure i will let you know about the CD. Songs and artwork are ready. After the weekend, the production will start... Ooh yeah, i need to get myself a website now:-)

Thanks for passing by again and your great comment, Steve. You're such a welcome guest!

wow &mdash 05/19/07 - 02:58:07 PM
Walter- if this is what you produce in GB with 12 tracks, then less is certainly more. I may have to rethink my production philosopy - this sounds fantastic.

LOL

Yes, the two voices are well matched... &mdash 05/19/07 - 05:05:13 PM
...the back-and-forth works well, and for this unsophisticated American it sounds sophisticated and European...

I feel like I should develop an unfiltered cigarette habit just listening...

The main track and riff sounds tailor-made for someone to sample and use for a hip-hop tune in a few years' time... When that happens, I will still prefer this...

I love the last verse particularly...

Thanks so much for popping in. I wonder, what makes it so particularly a European song? Perhaps the accents? Personally i think Tans german accent is very charming and seducing, and makes a great part of the sultry atmosphere.

A hip-hop version? Haha, that would be a great idea! Perhaps i'll try my cance here on MJ.

Thanks again Ed for this very interesting comment.

Amazing &mdash 05/23/07 - 08:14:06 PM
As you so often do, you paint vivid pictures through music. Very moody. Nice to hear the saxophone! Wildcat's voice is amazing; she keeps us in her grips with her voice alone. Great news about the CD! Congratulations!

Loss for words. &mdash 05/23/07 - 09:29:47 PM
I guess this kind of sounds like a jazzed up Enigma song. I don't know how to describe it, but I love it. Everything about it is perfect.

Very strong vocals &mdash 05/25/07 - 07:30:54 PM
I love the brooding dark undercurrent to this. I am sure that this was not the intention however it creates such wonderful musical tension ( the sax helps support this ) which makes for a very compelling listen. I loved the contrast of the vocals. Both are so different yet are inextricably tied to each other. Interplay of both parts came off smoothly and are a perfect foil for each other. If this is any indication of what yor album is like I am sure it is excellent.

Fantastic ! &mdash 05/26/07 - 10:16:45 AM
Very cinematic music, so well paced and lyrically magnificent...I havent heard the original version but this version puts me in the south of France particularly Nice on the boardwalk on a sultry summer night.... I like this song not only because of the great vocals, music and melody but it also gets me missing Europe....I must go back soon, Thanks you two!
