very moving piece... &mdash 05/17/07 - 02:28:17 PM
I suppose it's the 'Steinway' you used here? This is amazingly great, Bernd! I was litterally sitting on the tip of my chair when listening to this. And some of these chords really gave me goosebumps. The song reveals so many emotions. A true work of art... Thanks so much for sharing.

Thank you Walter &mdash 05/17/07 - 02:43:33 PM
Sounds a bit like Steinway... but it is the pure Garageband standard instrument "grand piano", I do not know which one they have taken for sampling.

Thanks for listening and leaving a comment, I am glad you enjoyed it!

BTW, your last collab with Tan is fantastic!

Greetings from a slightly cold Lower Saxony,

Berdn

waiting for ivory... &mdash 05/17/07 - 06:39:32 PM
....well I think it has arrived, although perhaps in a digital sense, but you have captured a true 'live' feel here, Berndt. The phrasing is lovely and there are some wonderful moments, especially, those responding 'octaves' about halfway through...

Many Thanks Bernst! Faved!
Cheers,
Alf

It is still a huge work to do for this concert, but I hope to post the first movement in the next weeks...

wow .. &mdash 05/17/07 - 06:43:29 PM

lovely moods and great expression. Like a gentle caress
with a touch of sinister .. (no, too strong) more like
a hint of fear at some change to the norm.
Breathtakingly and beautifully done, lovely use of
different strengths in hitting the keys. Light and
shade. Kudos.

This is a wonderfully evocative piece of music, it climbs and swoops like a swallow on an Autumn breeze. Wonderful composition and performance! Simple, passionate, powerful, wow...

Wow! &mdash 05/17/07 - 08:59:43 PM
In spite of using something as underwhelming as the GarageBand Grand Piano, your playing sounds humanly expressive as well as professional. A very moving piece. Your technique is amazing. I love how you make the phrases flow together beautifully until they turn slightly dissonant do to all the reverb/sustain on the piano. This piece reminds me of Yanni. Coming from me that's quite a complement.

memory &mdash 05/20/07 - 10:04:40 AM
It reminds me of a nice club my father used to take me to
when I was very young. A very classy piece of work done here.

Nice &mdash 05/20/07 - 04:51:55 PM
I really like how get more melody about 1/2 way then it seems that the large sweeping piano takes on more emotion.

Way to go.
Thanks for sharing. It does seem like an actual Steinway though.

Wow, the powers of GB!

The original GB "grand piano" is probably taken from a Steinway, I really don't know. It has a very nice sustain, which makes the soul of this piece, but is not comparable to the fantastic Ivory samples, as used by Paul F. Page's wonderful piano work.
The more melodic part in the middle will be the major theme of the 2nd movement of my concert. The concert is growing very fast now, but I have to buy the orchestral jam pack ASAP, I am now working with dummy instruments and it sounds pretty crazy sometimes...

Thanks for listening and your appreciated comment!

Your concerto.. &mdash 05/20/07 - 06:58:31 PM
...is something I, and others, are eagerly awaiting. You do a lot with the GB Steinway, but I know you will experience some real inspiration with Ivory once you get it plugged in... You have a very expressive style that is gentle but firm and controlled, and I especially am captivated by your never over-doing. My own taste looks for a bit more expansion of harmonic structure and a clearly definable tune. You seem to be outlining a larger structure and I am anxious to hear that. It is a blessing to hear music "in transitus" and to be able to anticipate its final form. Thank you for sharing this with all of us.

Thanks Paul, &mdash 05/20/07 - 07:08:40 PM
I just wrote a note, but at the same time, you answered my question here.
I am honored!

Your comment is very appreciated!
You're right, the structure is growing so fast in the moment, that I am afraid to loose control. In the moment, I don't care about technique or instruments, I am just getting the music. To get the matching instruments and the matching technique for playing them will be the next challenge.

Thanks a lot for listening and leaving a comment!

Soothing! &mdash 05/25/07 - 04:30:05 PM
And also quite good. My father plays boogie woogie /Honkie tonk. This is much different. It kept me guessing the whole way through. You play very well and I thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks.

Beautiful &mdash 05/26/07 - 02:30:46 PM
Gorgeous flourishes. I love the suspense created by the effective use of silence, the sections that follow are introduced nicely and the overall continuity was excellent. Very gratifying piece to listen to and diplays a masters level of compositional skill and performance.

Ok - I love you. There are some very talented artists on MJ, but only a few who truly speak to me. You've mastered music as language here, which is something I try to achieve with everything I do. This is so wonderfully emotive and LIVING. I'm so glad you directed me to this piece.
