Description
This song had a million parts to it, and i wasn't going nuts for it. Was just about to delete it, but I decided to drop pretty much everything out except some basic instrumentation and the vocals. actually the most predominant "instrument" is the metronome.

this kind of reminds me of slint or rodan (or maybe the for carnation). i'm actually kind of liking it now, and glad I didn't trash the whole thing (promised myself I'd stop doing that).

I feel for hike in the mountains.... And this one in my pod.

oh cool
so glad you like this. it is a wierd song, and wasn't sure anyone would be into it. have a good time on your hike, and remember to turn around when you are halfway through your water.

minimal
is never very far from trancelike, especially with this metronome beat. the phaser and vocals take it in outer space. On an album, this would be a nice final song.

Been there..
...Mike, where I've nearly ditched a song cos it just didn't seem to be working. This is great, down and dirty with a very hypnotic feel. The vocal harmonies are quite Cobain, and sound fab. This is great as it is, but i kinda kept expecting everyting to kick off and rock out ...tho i think this works well as it is.

Cool stuff.

thanks for listening
when i play it on itunes, it fades into the next song really well (a loud one). i guess if i were to put out albums and have them mastered , that's what i would do. but in the meantime, try and picture it in your minds eye.

now i'm thinking it kind of sounds like Can (mmm how i love them).

Great
I like this kinda song a lot...it has a sparse tension to it..almost Nirvana-esque. I can also see the Slint comparison too
Good thing you decided to keep this one!

going metro
leave it to you to come up with using a metronome as the center of this. cool idea and it works wonderfully. damn, i almost feel like clapping in time. nice tune

yeah
the metronome is okay. sounds better than the drums i was trying to play live. thanks for listening to this one. i don't know that the description made it sound very appealing, but you are obviously a brave soul (or is that a glutton for punishment).

no punishment here...
...this is a really great piece of what feels like truth. this to would make a good segue or first track on an album before something really big takes a poke at you. lots of tension, without the anxiety.

i'm
really surprised that anyone likes this one a all. i'm glad that you were into it. maybe i need to have another whack at it, but this time with real drums (minimal and stiff of course)

Glad you kept this
It's usually better to keep them, I think. Sometimes, changing things up and taking a new approach can produce things that become my favorites, even if I was about to dump them a few days before. Dumped songs become sources of regret. I nothing else, any song can be canniblaized for parts!

This is hypnotic, ethereal, and haunting. There is a build-up of tension, which is never released, and that is its beauty. Like echoroom, I can imagine it exploding into something heavy and explosive, and that is almost definitley what I would have done with it, but that is also kind of the obvious thing to do, and this is much more effective for its restraint. I'm particularly impressed with the vocals. You never fail to be interesting. Nice work. Peace.

thanks
for listening. yeah i think it does have a sense of tension; one that definitely wouldn't have been there if i kept the original instrumentation.

trying not to just throw away songs anymore. if nothing else, just to develop the discipline to turn them into something. the last one that was bothering me, i posted to see if anyone wanted to have a go at it, and biba_nova stepped in and made 2 really cool different thing s out of it.

What a find!
Very cool, I love it!

Just love the metronome, the guitar riff, and everything else going around them... Great harmonies, too...

I think it fits the "less is more" attitude that I love...

thanks
i like the "less is more" vibe too, although i often find myself adding tons of stuff just for the fun of figuring out the puzzle of "what else?" thanks for listening

Ghost of Aberdene(sp?)
definitely some pacnorwest thing here. Cobain like vocals, the driving bass works well, the metronome with reverb is awesome... like jack-booted all stars on parade march...

like this one alot... good work
michael2 said 905 days ago (June 2nd, 2007)
actually
the full version that i had done originally, i was going for spacemen 3; but the drums i had recorded were awful so i threw everything out and this is what was left over. i can see the cobain thing now that it's pared down. thanks for listening.
