Description:
Yes, here it is... my 4th LIOLI entry. As usual, I am early, but my 2-job schedule doesn't always allow me to strictly adhere to the submission rules (with regards to WHEN it should be submitted). Anyway, here's the obligatory legal train stuff...

Always interesting textures &mdash 05/23/07 - 07:44:08 PM
and synth sounds in your stuff and this is no exception. Interesting take on the "train song" It fits the theme but falls into no musical cliches. This is a good and fresh approach.
Good posting.

This train's got one helluva bottom &mdash 05/23/07 - 10:50:20 PM
Great subversion of the materials - and a cool track in it's own right. Nice graphic too - a complete package. If you click on the scroll bar you can play with the lights. Bet you knew that.

Surreal... &mdash 05/24/07 - 12:12:48 PM
The crossing seems to exist in a very Dr. Suessian universe... the train cars keep going by, and after a while I begin to see very strange hobos hanging out of the boxcar doors as they go by. I swear I can hear their thoughts... meanwhile, the conductor is in the Synthesizer Car (a caboose fitted with walls of exotic keyboards) and playing a favourite riff.

Excellent job, Doof! Strong, fresh and fascinating.

Great description! &mdash 05/26/07 - 02:08:46 AM
Meanwhile the the BrothersGibb (BeeGees) are floating through the train singing words that you think you can hear but really can't, and all the hobos can't stop dancing!

The saddest hobo &mdash 05/26/07 - 07:35:22 AM
is a disco hobo dressed in gold lamé.

DISCO HOBO! &mdash 05/26/07 - 01:55:11 PM
Dude that's awesome! Anybody want to collaborate on a Disco Hobo song?

DISCO HOBO! &mdash 05/26/07 - 06:04:29 PM
Scenario... Boxcar Willie, seeing record sales drift downward in the '70s, decides to strap on a bass guitar, put on a mirrored shirt and DANCE!

I'd be all over this in a heartbeat! Anyone else in? Could this happen?

I'm serious about this. &mdash 05/26/07 - 09:33:20 PM
I really want to do a Disco Hobo song.

For Christmas &mdash 05/24/07 - 10:26:15 PM
I want an electric train set. pure electronic synth train set. are those vinatage synths or simulated that you're always creating with? cool stuf as always.

Not cross at all &mdash 05/25/07 - 03:25:12 AM
You make it sounds as if being stuck at a train crossing is a rather delightful experience. Love that bass line and the little funky solo bits. Some great sounds in here Mr Doofy.

Deputy Crossing Guard &mdash 05/25/07 - 08:32:48 PM
The dissonances in the synth and bass tracks are rippin! Really creative melodies with odd intervals and nice layering of voices throughout. I also like the inclusion of the alternate rhythm in the middle section.

Better to be patient when that crossing gate starts flashing. Remember trains don't kill people... oh, wait. Yes they do.

Can't ... stop ... dancing! &mdash 05/25/07 - 10:31:40 PM
I don't dance. Don't know how to dance. Don't have the courage to dance. Don't like to dance. But sitting here at my iMac in the privacy of my room I CAN'T STOP DANCING! MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP! Sweet jam, dude.

Again? &mdash 05/25/07 - 10:38:34 PM
The first half of this song I just wanted it to be over so I could stop dancing, but the second half made me have to keep listening. So here I am on my second listen, and I think you need to get the BeeGees to add some vocals to this.

fav &mdash 05/26/07 - 03:47:33 PM
Title fer sure. As I've come to expect with DD tunage an eclectic and interestng tapestry of sonics. The choices on the synths were metaltastic. Like the central vibration I get when I'm on the red line, your interpretation is the closest to the real ride. well done

the beginning was a bit harsh &mdash 05/27/07 - 01:50:27 PM
but i loved the crushed hi-hat section---delicately done. what'd you do with that piano loop? I couldn't catch it anywhere.

Ah yes! &mdash 06/12/07 - 08:13:57 PM
Found this while browsing through my favorites list, so I had to hear it again. It's still one of my favorite jams here. Who would have though that a LIOLI piece would have so much staying power?

Many, many, many thanks for all the comments on this one. I appreciate everyone taking the time out of their day to listen. Dharma Logos, thanks for continuous listens. Glad you enjoy the tune. :)
