Description:
For a few days only....
This is the 2nd piece in the EVP series. The music from which this EVP segment derives is part of a much bigger project that Cat and I have been working on for a while and we thought we would like to give you a taste...and hopefully receive some feedback, thoughts, ideas for direction and maybe even creative contributions.
Here is EVP2
Please refer to my SISCOM GURU track on here for further clues on how things have been evolving...

Those high vocal notes really sound nice especially with the spanish type rhythm.

This is so well done. I'll have to check out the earlier piece now to find out what it's all about.
Cheers

Cool &mdash 05/23/07 - 01:16:21 PM
Very nice melding of strings and Cat's voice. Sounds like it was recorded in a chapel or somewhere big with great acoustics. Great work on this! [ Reply to This ]
very nice &mdash 05/23/07 - 02:23:08 PM
man what a nice job on all aspects of song I had to vote on it cause I like it so much [ Reply to This ]
Brilliant .. &mdash 05/23/07 - 02:42:34 PM
.. just sublime. Excellent instrumentation, production, singing - it's perfection. I'm a bit biased being a
fan of pizz. and this kind of operatic/pop vocal ..
not Sarah Brightman .. although, Hot Gossip .. ;)
Kudos to you both. Works extremely well together. [ Reply to This ]

You are both showing off your strengths here.
Luxuriously dark with a feint crackling of hope....

sweet stuff... &mdash 05/23/07 - 06:24:12 PM
Starts off almost Enya-esque with the cool pumped vox, then goes into an ItAlien Aria 51... what an intriguing mixture of music. I like it. I might suggest that the pumped vox ("Ah. Ah. Ah. etc") are almost too constant and repetitive after a short time, however... and possibly holding one of the notes in the series longer might be more interesting (Ah. Ah. Ah. Ahhhh Ah. Ah. Ah. Ahhhh Ah. Ah.. etc) But that's about the only suggestion I can think of. What an engaging and captivating melody and mixture of styles. Very nice... I'm off to backtrack into the earlier pieces!

Thank you Drakonis &mdash 05/25/07 - 12:01:23 AM
I actually loathe the Enya comparisons with any of my stuff...but I guess its going to happen
:-(
I like your suggestion on the ah ah ah's...and I will see if I can incorporate that idea into a future revision of this tune
Again, thank you for your thoughtful comments here, I truly appreciate them.
I hope you enjoyed EVP1 and SISCOM GURU

Don'tchya Enya Me! &mdash 05/25/07 - 07:49:45 AM
I understand the aversion (and I'm a closet Enya fan)... so I should be more descriptive. The choice of pitches of different instruments is broad and distinct (not a lot of overlap), and the timing gives air between things, and those two choices of writing help make this very crisp and clean sounding, which I really like (I don't like muddy music.) Also the melody is rich and strong, as are the harmonies. Very satisfying. The special effects were not overdone, but add intrigue. I can tell that much thought and talent went into this.
ttfn,
Drakonis

It isn't Baroque. &mdash 05/23/07 - 07:41:18 PM
But whatever it is, it's beautiful. Your voices are gorgeous, sensual, haunting, forbidden, unattainable. I love how you ground the bass instruments with repeating staccato notes while the treble instruments seem to float like the clouds. Overall this piece is peaceful and intense at the same time. I'll definitely have to check out the previous installments. [ Reply to This ]
Maybe not Baroque &mdash 05/25/07 - 12:04:26 AM
...in the purist sense, but I hope it has at least got a baroque flavour.
Thank you for listening and I appreciate your comments
I hope you managed to listen to EVP1 and SISCOM GURU and enjoyed them too

I am taken aback immediately. What a great combination of sound bed with Mysti to supplement.
The ending is, well, strange. But how do you end this?
Very enjoyable to listen, thanks for this.

I actually saw Philip Glass play live recently...an amazing experience to see that music being played and hearing it in that context...
:-)
I appreciate your comments here, however my homage on this piece is not Philip Glass (that one will come) but to Michael Nyman

Combining genres.... &mdash 05/25/07 - 01:44:48 AM
I've had a lot of fun working with the original SISCOM piece.
When Bryn invited me to add to/reconstruct elements of it, I jumped at the chance. And, as I was working with those particular elements, it was out of the blue that I wondered if Baroque composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's (1710-1736) "Nina" would work with the bass line of SISCOM.
What you hear in this is my 'test improvisation' of that song--or at least the first half of it--which happened to work out perfectly with the bass.
Combining genres like this--Baroque and the modern--is something I've wanted to do for a while now, so thank you, Bryn, for such a colorful palette to experiment and work with!
This is great fun! :)

Wow... (and I rarely say that word) &mdash 05/26/07 - 11:37:38 PM
Mysti, if you come up with awesome performances like this, who am I to say you need to dabble in pop? :-) This genre is truly your strength. Bibanova's sound and your voice fit wonderfully together like hand and glove. [ Reply to This ]
