Description:
This is a fantasy based on Chaac.
Chaac was the ancient Maya god of rain and thunder/lightning. He was one of the earliest and most worshipped gods among the all the people of mesoamerica.

Chaac was often depicted with a serpentine axe in his hand a metaphor for lightning, and his body was scaled and reptilian. He was worshipped at sacred wells or cenotes, and was associated with the life giving rain needed for agriculture. At the dawn of time Chaac split apart a sacred stone with his axe, from which sprung the first ear of maize. When he was not among the clouds the god could be found near falling waters.

Grand... &mdash 05/23/07 - 06:56:49 PM
that's how this sounds. So rich and dramatic. Love that you did it on a M-Audio 49e as I too have one; now have some thing to work towards (I wish LOL), M

I always know that when you post &mdash 05/23/07 - 07:41:47 PM
Something it is going to be a real treat. Like the soundtrack feel here.
That horn is incredible! I know you were going to post a few times and then rescinded. This could of been put on Mel Gibsons latest movie about the ancient south american indians. Like those jungle birds and the list goes on and on.

Terrific MO really!

beautiful &mdash 05/23/07 - 10:57:12 PM
especially like the part in the middle where everything drops out but the flute. this is very cinematic, but also reminiscent of Dead Can Dance or Peter Murphy's later solo stuff. Great job.

Dark clouds are gathering over this song &mdash 05/25/07 - 05:56:42 PM
This song has one of the coolest openings I've heard in a while. A very dark feeling, with those insistent drums and that chorus.

The flute passage is cool too, though I wish you'd found a better transition than more or less a fade from the one to the other.

Very grand sounding overall. Compliments.

Ancient sounds. &mdash 05/27/07 - 02:07:08 PM
Very primal. A milange of heavy rhythms and plaintive flute howls. It becomes ominous as the Thunder rumbles and the rains fall. A perfect score for Mel Gibson's Mayan epic.

Just beautiful! &mdash 05/28/07 - 08:50:20 AM
Slow, poised buildup with all the right elements. Wonderfully done. As always I'm curious to know more about how you did this. Any loops or all played in? Either way, majestic, soothing and powerful - just the kind of music I like. And yes, where are the groups filling the empty slot Dead Can Dance left a long time ago? So happy to come across music resembling their deep and sprititual expressiveness. Hope you keep posting music like this. I'm putting you on my email list:)

I love your grand range of lows to highs. It has a very powerful feeling, especially your percussion sounds. This is really first class!
