Description:
Well, I couldn't quite find the time to complete an entry for this round of LIOLI, but I got a fair start. I've packed up my progress so far, which is a pretty good sketch of where I was headed.

A HUGE thanks to Bud for hosting this round. He's done a terrific job and I can't wait to spend some time listening to all the other entries.

I'd call this more than a fair start &mdash 05/25/07 - 07:50:08 AM
pretty amazing work here. The groove is really infectious and the use of the sound sample is great. I can see where you could take this farther - knowing what you're capable of - but I really like what I'm hearing.
Thanks for posting - and thanks for the chance to host this round. I've had a blast.Tshhhhhhhht!

Um, if this is unfinished... &mdash 05/25/07 - 08:05:46 AM
I wish I had unfinished works like this. This is great, industrial tune for the challenge. Machines constantly working while the futuristic cars speed on by them.

sultry &mdash 05/25/07 - 04:02:05 PM
good sultry mood here

this plays well on the sexual overtones that trains are sometimes associated with

thanks

oh, the imagery this conjures... &mdash 05/26/07 - 11:31:04 AM
I love your mixes, Chi -- they're always revealing something unexpected and esoteric. This is no exception. Sounds more downtempo/Lounge/Ambient than Techno (just so you're not disqualifying your song from anyone who doesn't care for 'techno', because this is much deeper and intellectual than the sometimes droning and monotony of standard techno).

Looking forward to the final.

Androids Getting Stoned... &mdash 05/28/07 - 09:07:24 AM
Dunno if C3PO ever inhaled (can't see it) but R2D2 has surely smoked a few joints in his day, or whatever passes for 'smoking a joint' to an android.

I love the surreality that's both smooth and full, yet full of sharp angles and hard textures, and a lot of very subtle touches. It seems to reveal new secrets with each listen...

Disconcerting &mdash 05/29/07 - 03:40:50 PM
Quite spooky stuff here - sounds lie how you feel when you go under with sleeping gas - strange electronic pulses and moans, like machines talking to themselves.
I failed again to enter the LOLI contest ... will try harder next time (I was having my sinuses operated on, so i do have a note from my mother).

Mekanistik &mdash 05/30/07 - 03:59:43 PM
The groove has slowed wayyy down to where all these little details loom forward... like zooming in on seahorse valley and getting a good look at the whorls and gnarly filaments up close. Yet, it has the flavor of machinery, yum. I like it!
