Description:
Enjoy

Lyrics:
Nothing

Nothing ever really matters
Nothing ever lives forever
Nothing I can touch or feel
Nothing I can see is real
Don't believe it
Nothing that I say you don't believe it

Here, in this empty broken space
Trying hard to understand this race
Think I'm cleaver, but I know I'm just a fool
Making words and breaking all the rules

Nothing in this universe
Nothing ever comes in first
Nothing'll ever be the same
Nothing ever has a name
Don't believe it
Nothing that I say you don't believe it

Here, I go into a place
Testing limits, I struggle to create
Looking for a balance in my life
Everthing I know has a price

Nothing in my mind is right
Nothing ever leaves my sight
Nothing ever burns forever
Nothing's left to remember
Don't believe it
Nothing that I say you don't believe it

Here, in this empty broken space
Trying hard to understand this race
Think I'm cleaver, but I know I'm just a fool
Making words and breaking all the rules

Nothing's ever complicated
Nothing here is estimated
Nowhere in my imagination
Nothing is so fasinating
Don't believe it
Nothing that I say you don't believe it

Here, I go into a place
Testing limits, I struggle to create
Looking for a balance in my life
Everything I know has a price

You will never leave my mind
I will never look behind
I can never look ahead
I can't believe what you said
Don't believe it
Nothing that I say you don't believe it

Here, in this empty broken space
Trying hard to understand this race
Think I'm cleaver, but I know I'm just a fool
Maling words and breaking all the rules

Fresh Squeezed &mdash 05/25/07 - 10:09:40 AM
It was good of Ringo to come sit in on another song of yours. You sure have that family affair working for you Julian! This is a nicely orchestrated song. The piano parts poke in and out nicely throughout the song. The reverse gate or whatever you have on your drums are becoming a signature sound of yours and i think you use them sparingly, so I don't tire of them. I think the lead guitar on this work is just a pure, cold glass of Fresh Squeezed Florida Orange Juice, loaded with pulp and some seeds. Packed with vitamins too!

You all seem to like my high energy tunes. Thanks for the good words. Glad that you liked the guitar work on this one(that was my only question mark)
Stay tuned for more.

Happy that this is your favorite of mine.
It may run on a bit, but it was actually longer in the beginning. I hate cuuting songs down. Must be like a director cutting a film.
Thanks again.

nice &mdash 05/26/07 - 07:00:25 AM
stereo effects on the drums. It seems to clip a little at times (on the vox ? the lead ?) but the mix is otherwise beautifully packed. strong song.

Listened again and you're right, it does clip a bit. That's why this is a great site because sometimes you don't notice things like that.
Thanks for pointing the out.

Select reverse gear :) &mdash 05/31/07 - 03:59:49 AM
Nice mix on an interesting song. To me, the whole song has a sort of "reverse" feel to it, right down to the cvhord progressions and the lead break. Very Beatlesque in the perc department, and reminiscent of "The Loved Ones" an early 70s Australian band which featured Barry Humphries' brother (of Dame Edna Everege fame) on lead vocals.
Good stuff - lots to like.

Yeah, you caught us. I had to pull some stings to get Ringo in here to do the drums. He was o.k.

This is really cool song &mdash 05/31/07 - 09:36:14 AM
I was immediately drawn to the lyrics. There's a Buddhist saying "Nothing in my practice prepared me for nothing in my practice".
Excellent production, playing and singing. The reverse drum thing is cool and well placed. Nice leads too. Glad I stopped by.

The song just keeps driving on until the end. Lots of energy. Love the guitar work. Great lyrics and I love your delivery. Just a hint of anger and frustration. Perfect for the tone of the song. Enjoyed it very much.

This has an interesting balance of instruments and it does have a 'reverse' feel to it. Great lyrics and the guitar solo's work really well. The mix sounds pretty good to me - I like the fact that nothing is too up front and you can hear behind the louder parts quite easily. Enjoyed it!

Thank you &mdash 06/06/07 - 03:10:20 AM
I often hesitate about bringing one instrument up in front because I feel I'm just writing a song. I'm a songwriter, not a performer. And I don't want to be one. So, that's the reason I look for a nice balance in the mix. Nice that you picked that out. You've got a good ear.
Glad you enjoyed.

hey LL - i freakin' love this - how havea I missed you so long around here! ?
The production on this is great (love the drums), and gives the song a lovely chunky feel. Great guitar also ... just, fantastic all round.

If you ever want some lyrics about the state of the US presidential election, i've got some for you, as i've instantly filed you under 'must do a collab at some point'.

Excellent stuff!

I'm glad that you got to hear me. And I also really enjoy your stuff. It's just been really hard to get my name out there as I have been here only 3 months. So, I don't get many hits compared to others.
It was really fun doing this song and I appreciate you listening and commenting. I do a lot of this from the office because I can't get DSL at home right now. I'm trying to get it soon, but Deutche Tele-Com is trying to screw me. That's Europe for you.

Another nice one &mdash 06/07/07 - 06:32:56 AM
This has a great sound. The production is very good. I love the drum sounds, and there is a nice balance between the instruments and the vocal. Guitars sound good - I love the sound on the solo (and the solo!) - and the piano works very well, hovering just below the main level, it seems like, and then becoming more prominent here and there. The lyrics are provocative and interesting - angry? sad? resigned? - either way, powerful stuff. Nice work as always. This is a good song. Thanks for sharing. Peace.

nothing &mdash 06/08/07 - 12:13:10 AM
"nothing is so fascinating" great lyric. Actually there are a bunch of great lyrics here. Good work. Nice guitars, very biting. You are right though, I do think it would be a bit stronger if you cut it down a little in length. But that is a minor critique for a very cool song. I like the piano, it adds a very Iggy Pop rock caberet sound to it. Your vox are really balls-to-the-wall which I like, nothing tentative about them. The exact counterpoint to my song "Nothing".
So, lastly, I like the title too.

Great sounds! Love the ambience of this. Vox delivers these fine lyrics with conviction and power. Lead riffing penetrated this skin! Very psychedlic...brings back a lot of strange memories and emotions. Kudos man!

Be well!

Lovely chord structure ... it manages to provide melodic interest as well as giving the song a sturdy foundation. It has a big lush sound and lots of energy. Really nicely done!

Like your style. I know this song may not be everybody's cup of tea, but I appreciate that you listened and thanks for the nice comments.

Yes, I do love Rock... &mdash 08/13/07 - 05:25:07 PM
First I thought of Oasis and then the guitar solo came in... I love the song and the ideas with the arrangement. I just think that the sound quality doesn't match the song. Imho the bass level for all instruments and the mixdown falls short... but that's already it... the song's great!
