concert (6)classical (387)
Description:
A (not so short) snapshot from my growing (Concert for Piano and Garageband), still unfinished and a lot to do, don't take timing and especially the end too serious, all made with Garageband and Boldt instruments.

a little Danny Elfman. A little Yann Tiersen.

some very beautiful piano playing on this. Timing issues aside, I really enjoyed the pacing on this and the unexpected chordal movements at times. This is great and I can't wait to hear the final. Please let me know when you've uploaded it so I don't miss it.

An excellent start Bernd.... &mdash 05/27/07 - 02:40:19 AM
This piece is so different from your 'Area' stuff and so stands out in a different way.

Your piano playing is very well done and the piece as a whole kept my interest from start to finish. There was not too much of anything.

I'll be watching and waiting for the next installment.

Tske care.

Paul.

Yes, that's my other side of making music. It is still only a snapshot, not finished, but I needed to post something, just to make it real for me, that it is growing....

Thanks for listening and your appreciated comment.

Greetings,

Bernd

Classical.......ish &mdash 05/27/07 - 07:11:00 PM
I have no idea what the divding line is between romantic classical music and film scores, but as you can see from the Elfman comment, you're in danger of falling on the cinematic side.

(While I'm typing this, the theme recurs, and that missing beat makes me mentally stumble. That's funny. Keeps the track from being predictable.)

Is this the sketch for a movement? Part of a movement? What you have a theme, a cadenza, and the theme recurring. For a true concerto that's missing a couple of bits. For instance, the solo instrument is supposed to elaborate on the theme. Your middle part, while well played and quite sonorous, is a bit free in character: too far removed from the theme. I think this needs some more playing with the theme to anchor it in the listener's mind, before you can get that far away.

Just some thoughts, based on hearing too many classical concertos. You're of course free to invent your own form.

Thank you for your very appreciated and constructive comment!

I have a complete three movement concert in my head. This is only a small part of the second movement, and I just wanted to post it... The theme is still too cinematic, but thats in a way a instrumentation and dynamic issue...
I will not fulfill the complete classical structure, but I want to create something, which is more a concert than a soundtrack. But I am not disturbed by any cinematic influence. I just let it happen.
Thank you for listening!

This is pleasant to hear &mdash 05/28/07 - 08:05:51 AM
Like the stops and goes. Breaking into the slow sound is striking. Delicately done. Your flow with the slow, is graceful. An usual assortment of slow and a faster pace but really seems to fit.

Love the orchestration

I just did not see that you stopped by. Sorry for that.

Thank you, I'm honoured by your comment.

I love your music, too; and I am a little jealous, because I cannot create such nice songs as you. That's funny, isn't it?

Greetings from Lower Saxony,

Bernd

I too look forward to the final work, knowing it's a big task. Nice phrasing, and a delicate orchestration suitable to the piece.
