Great to hear this! &mdash 05/28/07 - 04:35:08 PM
I am glad I found the time to check this out Thomas! This song is very typical you. I really like this song and the hole s\production sounds very tight in my ears. You play a terrific lead on this one. I am not sure what this would sound like without the drums, I seriously don't think they make a difference, either of the ways. Your singing is as strong as I have gotten used to. You sound greeat, and the songwriting is spectacular! I love your music mister. [ Reply to This ]
She Used To Be &mdash 05/28/07 - 10:55:23 PM
Magnus, I am honored, as usual, that you would take the time to listen to my song and I am twice honored that you liked it! I first wrote this over a year ago and then came back to it and completely rewrote the chords and melody. I am glad I did as I think it turned out better. [ Reply to This ]
nice sounds there on the guitar &mdash 05/28/07 - 05:37:49 PM
and that so pleasing to listen to bronc singing with the ever so interesting lyrics. You have a very enjoyable way of writing, I guess cause it really seems to come from your soul. I like the early Rolling Stones sound you get out of the guitar. At least it brings me back to that sound they had during the Satisfaction era.
You have a fantastic texture in your voice that is ineed very interesting. But the words really seem you have a LOT to say!
Way to go bronc.
Your texture in the guitar is fun to listen to on this as well as the creativeness! [ Reply to This ]
A groove &mdash 05/28/07 - 11:07:52 PM
Thanks Bill. I think for once I got into a groove with this one and it had a good rhythmic feel to it which made the vocal and guitar a lot easier to do. It wouldn't make it in Nashville but this is the kind of song I have been wanting to write and am very happy with it! [ Reply to This ]
cool tune &mdash 05/28/07 - 10:06:02 PM
ya know this could of made a good johnny cash tune. really good lyrics. the drums don't bother me that much well maybe the tambourine and left cymbal sound out of place. minor deal. anyway iiiiii liked it! [ Reply to This ]
Hmmm? &mdash 05/29/07 - 09:15:18 AM
Never thought about who else could sing this but now that you mention it, how about Willie? Hey, he's still alive and I can hear him doing a calypso or a Spanish sounding version. [ Reply to This ]
Yup... &mdash 05/30/07 - 12:21:44 PM
...these may well be your best lyrics to date Tom. This is good stuff man. Your leads are especially poignant throughout....so clean and well-executed. Vocals are tops as per usual. Melody is haunting...oozing frustration and deep regret with a pinch of bewilderment.

"bewilderment"? &mdash 05/30/07 - 10:36:41 PM
...or perhaps "oregano"...

Great &mdash 05/31/07 - 01:36:50 PM
tune - this has a nice flow and feel. Great moody melody and vocal. I'm not sure if the drums are adding anything but I enjoyed it in any case. Glad I dropped by. Thanks for sharing.

the lyrics are brilliant. The singing is good and reminicent of Mr.Cash .. I think the drums give a touch of Velvet Underground "shiney shiney" .. but I think the biggest improvement would be to the timing (if you keep the drums).. their presence seems to show up (to my ears) that other timing is a bit loose. Another small suggestion is to effect some key lines in the vocal a bit different eg. the "Come on honey" etc .. do you record to a click track? Enjoyed it Mr.Bronco sir. [ Reply to This ]
Last of the Dinosaurs &mdash 06/05/07 - 11:47:55 PM
Nope, I'm not even sure what a click track is. Is it the metronome thingy? Timing has always been my problem as I have primarily been a solo performer for many years. I just grew up letting my mood and emotions determine how long to hold a note or change a chord. And even when I was in duos or trios, I mostly played lead guitar and didn't have to do a whole lot of rhythm. [ Reply to This ]
Excellent and One of Your Best Posts! &mdash 06/02/07 - 03:41:44 PM
Bronco,
I certainley agree the lyrics are really, really great.
Your guitar playing is spot on , really goes well with the song/lyrics. I see no problem with the percussion
at all, using a midi keyboard can be tricky at times
but you did fine. Way to go!

I thought the leads were good on this as well. I made a determined effort to try to phrase instead of just letting go like I sometimes do. Thanks for your continued support. It means a lot to have you comment on my songs. [ Reply to This ]
"she had a sailor in every port" &mdash 06/03/07 - 11:19:22 AM
:-) my favorite line...
It is a great song, for sure. I love the 'westernized' lead parts especially.

Hey Harold &mdash 06/05/07 - 11:52:33 PM
That was one of my favorite lines too. I carried this song around in my head for a long time and then it just came bursting out. I'm happy that you enjoyed it! [ Reply to This ]
Holy crap what great lyrics! &mdash 06/05/07 - 12:12:50 PM
I think this is by far my favorite you've done so far. The lyrics are phenominal! I think "It's a relationship made in heaven but seasoned and grilled in hell" is probably one of the greates relationship lines EVER! And your vocals and production on this one are great. I probably would leave out the percussion, or maybe just go back and add a little "incidental" percussion.
Excellent work, Tom. I really enjoyed this one. [ Reply to This ]
Damn &mdash 06/05/07 - 11:58:13 PM
Wow Joseph, it just knocks my socks off when someone gives me a complement as good as this! I really appreciate it! Makes all those lonely nights with the guitar worth it. It will be a real challenge to write another song as good as this one turned out to be. [ Reply to This ]

Your voice is amazing - there have been times I've really wished I had a) you accent b) your pitch c) the timbre of your voice - this may seem like a comparison but to me its fact - your voice is almost exactly halfway between Nick Cave and Jim Morrison;at least on this track anyway.
Whats more I thought I was listening to some authentic original folk song but you've written a legend. If time/space allows I'd love to send you a song with no lyrics or vocals for you to weave some magic to.
The thing that doesn't work for me is the drums - I know exactly where they are coming from - some of my piano techniques derived from playing sampled drums in live on keys - but you on this track dont need em - the accoustics you laid down there were perfect - even just an echoey single beat of a bongo on this would add to its genius.I dont have any bongos and I need some on a track so if you see anyone with bongos favourite em.REALLY INSPIRED BY THIS!!! Come Now &mdash 06/06/07 - 12:08:27 AM
I really appreciate your praise but don't do it by putting yourself down. As anyone can tell by listening to your music and seeing how well it's been received at MacJams you are an outstanding talent! I mean my accent is an accident of birth, I have been known to go off pitch just as much as the next guy and everyone has their own unique timbre. It's a funny thing I've noticed but most singers always want to sound like someone else. In my case, I wanted to sound like The Eagles, America or Crosby, Stills and Nash.
I will take credit for having written a good song. I will be hard pressed to write another as good. I would be happy for you to send me some music for me to write and sing too. Just don't expect everything I do to be as good as this one. Sometimes inspiration does not want to come as I am sure you have expierenced with your own music. [ Reply to This ]
Deep and dark! &mdash 06/09/07 - 02:29:34 PM
Great song....you have obviously spent some time on these lyrics...they tell an evocative tale! This kinda reminds me of some Townes Van Zandt stuff like Our Mother the Mountain. Deep as a canyon of soul!
Lovely
