Description:
After letting this sit for a few weeks, I cleaned it up, and added glockenspiel and tubular bells to the last quarter.
I am posting this now for those who wish to download the final version.
Thanks for all your support.

Now &mdash 05/29/07 - 06:35:37 AM
... it is really finished. What are your feelings? Do you feel like falling in a deep hole, or are you glad you finished it or both?
This is not a single song, this is a masterpiece.
Thanks a lot for sharing!
Kudos,

You are too kind! &mdash 05/29/07 - 09:03:51 AM
Bernd, I am so delighted you have followed this from the beginning. For the past month, I have been in that "hole." I am happy with the end result, and relieved that I actually FINISHED a composition. I have so many others in "stasis" awaiting to be reworked and completed.
I thank you for your kind words, and for your endurance throughout the process. Maybe someday, we can combine our resources and come up with a collaborative composition.
Regards,

really? &mdash 05/29/07 - 03:32:48 PM
i can't believe that your finished. i really liked the regular updates on this one.it made me happy knowing that you were constantly tinkering away on this.the romantic notion of the true craftsman, never quite finished as it can always be a little better. that said, i've always thought that this was an amazing piece of music (regardless of what your evolving opinions on it were). i think you've done a tremendous job with the orchestral sounds; the composition itself stands on it's own, but the sounds really bring it to life. i aspire to this level (honestly), but not sure it will happen before I retire. excellent work. Bravo, bravo...... &mdash 05/29/07 - 04:25:38 PM
This piece of music is a wonderful example of dedication and perfection.
There are all sorts of different ideas musically intermixed in a very clever way. The 17-odd minutes just vanished!!
Very, very interesting to listen to AND enjoyable.
Flair came to mind as a descriptive phrase. I heard Gershwin in there, Paul Williams, Phil Spectre, but most of all Alimar shone throughout.
A beautiful musical tour-de-force.
'Awed I am' (to quote someone famous).

An Honor &mdash 05/30/07 - 11:04:11 AM
Paul, I am tickled by the musical comparisons! To even be considered in the same sentence as Gershwin and Spectre is an honor. Thanks for listening so many times.

BEAUTIFUL, DYNAMIC, REFRESHING!!!!! :) &mdash 05/29/07 - 04:54:55 PM
This masterpeice has taken on a life of its own!!!! It sounds marvelous. I love the piano, the deep sounds, the feeling of tension which is always relieved by some incredible sweet, powerful, sublime, flow of beauty. We are all so honored that you have shared this with us. Who can not feel the blood pound thru their veins, the heart and mind basking in the glory of hope! This is one of those lucid experiences, where it feels like something we all relished in before birth....when we felt the music all around us. The fact that you spent so many years "holding out", and then bring this to our attention...... he he .....is amazing.....You are an inspiration to me who needs alot of work at perfecting things..... your persistence has paid off.... :D This sounds wonderful!!! I look forward to the CD!!!! [ Reply to This ]
A Lot of Light &mdash 05/30/07 - 11:06:40 AM

I Betcha &mdash 05/30/07 - 04:05:05 AM
this ain't the final 'final' - especially if you get your hands on more realistic orchestral sounds.
As I absorb this now, the thing that comes to mind is 'my goodness, this man has a lot of patience', and 'the piano then flute/woodwind/strings section (aprox 8:17 to 10:58) is beautiful'. Not that the rest isn't fine, but that section captures my ears and my admitted limited attention span. [ Reply to This ]
Might it be missing something? &mdash 05/30/07 - 11:10:36 AM
I may have to form my own orchestra if I can't find one that will perform this! Thanks for your "attention" and wonderful comments. Do you think it needs (more) cowbell?

I'm at aloss for words - really &mdash 06/02/07 - 07:16:47 PM
I'm just amazed at what you've manged to create - and the diligence and patience exhibited - which only shows itself in the beauty of the music and it's themes - not as something which is overworked. Congratulations on a truly fine piece of music. [ Reply to This ]
I, too, am at a loss... &mdash 06/05/07 - 09:46:48 AM

Took a bit of time... &mdash 06/04/07 - 07:59:18 AM
...for me to get here. Needed the time to sit back and really listen.
You're a master, Alimar. I have downloaded this at work and will do so as soon as I reach the home, as well.
I can compare this to Ravel, Gershwin...whoever. It's not so much the method of composing as the fact that I can either place it in the background and do work (extremely effectively) or focus completely on the music and be taken to a completely different universe.
I love your music, Al.

thoughts from the bull... &mdash 06/05/07 - 10:32:15 AM
jeez louise! this is outstanding! enough has been said so far, so i can't really add too much. i love the atmospheric cycling of the piece and the emotional turnabouts. build-ups, bring-downs, everything!
this is really intense, and honestly, i don't know how one might actually "write" a piece like this. it's the kind of thing that just happens to a person, i believe.
fantastic efforts in this, Alimar! congrats on this! and thank you! [ Reply to This ]
