Description
I wrote this song a lont time ago, at a point when I was first learning to record in a studio. I would bring songs I didn't care about to the studio because I was self-conscious about my song writing and performing abilities. Unfortunately, this song caught on with friends and family and now, about 20 years later, I still get requests for it. I couldn't actually sing it in the original key; my voice has changed. This recording is really just me trying it out again, in a different key. Recorded in "free time" without a metronome. Bass and percussion were overdubbed later, so they're not always perfectly in time. But who cares? The full story is on my blog, somewhere close to http//web.mac.com/... . I'd like to dedicate this one to my Dad. He's in the hospital now being treated for anuerisms; it's his favorite song of mine.

i
like this one. i actually really like the lo-fi sound (spent a lot of time listening to indie music). i hope that your dad recovers soon; same thing happened to my dad a couple of years ago. it was scarey, but everythings fine now. i hope it works out that way for you and your family.

Back in my early 20s, I was practicing bass three hours a day, playing in a band with a drummer who practiced six hours a day and a guitarist who was one the "up and coming" lead guitar players of my home town. Plus, I was writing a song every day. I... [see more]
