Description:
Wednesday Morning Acid---techno that is.
Four tracks: a drum machine and three different settings on the same synthesizer.
Another AFX inspired tune, bordering on cheap sweatshop knock off, really.

Acid? &mdash 05/31/07 - 02:55:40 AM
Is this acid?
It sounds more like electropop.
It's good that you use more than only garageband.
What means 'boy'?
Is that a hardware-synth?

On acid and boys &mdash 05/31/07 - 10:16:08 AM
I have a distinctly difficult time placing electronic music in a genre. It's all classed as "electronic" in my music archive. The only standard I have by way of measurement is AFX's series of Analord EP's, which he claims are a series of acid techno releases. Like I said, this is nearly a patent iteration of some of that stuff---all original work here, but clearly influenced or inspired, depending on how kind you want to be.
'Boy', n. meaning my particular corporeal manifestation as a male member of the human subspecies.
My turn to ask a question, why is it good I used more than "only garage band?" That's an interesting comment.
That synth is the "es m" from logic.
nuff sed.

This reminds me so much of &mdash 05/31/07 - 06:35:04 AM
stuff I did in the eighties with Kevlar from JOAN and my TR808 triggering my Sequential Circuits Pro-One Synth. Very Yaz. Nice work - you found a good groove and kept it simple.
Please explain AFX. [ Reply to This ]
I shouldn't mention that . . . &mdash 05/31/07 - 10:27:51 AM
I was still soiling diapers through much of the early eighties.
Are the keys your primary instrument, Bud? Did/do you play live often? Are you a rockstar in disguise? Your public is dying to know.
AFX is the experimental moniker of the man named Richard D. James, a.k.a. Aphex Twin: added a song to the Pi soundtrack, released scads of different electronic tunes.
Thanks for the listen,

I know about Aphex /James - &mdash 05/31/07 - 05:03:55 PM
I didn't know there was now a third handle.
To answer your question - my main instrument is guitar. In the eighties I had a 4 track setup and ran with the TR*)* drum machine and the Pro one synth along with my 63 Mustang and Ibanez bass. That was my basic deal. Kevlar and I used to get together every Sunday and record a new song. This went on for almost two years. Other people came through as well - but mostly it was Kevin and Kevin (aka Bud). Cult of the Body - which is posted on my page is the first thing we did together at my place.
No, I'm not a rock star. I played at CBGB's, the Mudd Club etc. - but then so did a lot of people.

Aphichard D. X Twin &mdash 06/01/07 - 10:18:59 AM
has a whole bucket full of aliases---Caustic Window, Polygon Window, The Dice Man, etc?---but I've only listened to music from Aphex and AFX.
That's a pretty damn cool music career, no matter how you cut it.

Thanks for the Blotter Art link - &mdash 05/31/07 - 06:42:27 AM
I have a portfolio of blotter pages somewhere from a show
that was put up at a gallery in NYC in the late Eighties. Igotta find it. [ Reply to This ]

Do people really frame these sheets? This is a culture I've never encountered before, though not too different from designer guitar picks in a way.
Your quite welcome for the surreptitious tip.

Some of the stuff on the blotter site &mdash 05/31/07 - 05:13:23 PM
looks suspiciously "after the fact". Yes some people have framed sheets as art. The show I went to had examples of some of the brands that were prevalent in the 60's - 70's. Word had it that some were dosed - but most were test sheets. It wasn't that common for an overall image to be done - like the Hendrix - it was usually a small logo type thing. Friends of mine made sheets that showed three suns rising from behind a cloud. Triple Sunrise - a take on Sunshine - one of the first "marketed brands" of acid.

Greg, this is real moody little nagging beast, riminds of of some of john carpenters sound track work. Nice and sparse, with real atmosphere.
I'm goona download this and one day, may ruin it by putting strings and vocals on it.
A moody little gem.
