Description
modern JOY!
Words by Stephen Kemp
Music by Stephen Kemp & Anne Cozean
girl part: Anne Cozean, also keys, mix and seamstress, also teacher, booster and good ear
boy part: Stephen Kemp, also flute, keys, percussion, mixdown - searching for diamonds in good scat
This song started out as a post of the END OF a song not yet written.
Anne grabbed it and did made a loop out of it to make it longer. Later, when the beginning of the song was written, she stitched it onto the ending. Then re-stitched it repeatedly -- lots of work.
She is such a joy to work with and highly experienced with collabs, so I was very fortunate that she chose to work with with me.
This was my first vocal collaboration, first duet, first real mixing and first JOY.

....but way too short. You do suggest it's a beginning, so I'll wait.

Very prophetical!
You made it to heaven, this was the end, but really, it was only the beginning! very cool!
I am looking forward to hearing your beginning and middle because, the end, which is the beginning, has got me, exited to where you will take this?
Sounds like Gospel to me dude and your voice really does remind my of Johnny Cash, later on (American IV:). Just my opinion - Keep up the good works!!

Lyrics
I MADE IT TO HEAVEN
I am
I am that I am
I am
I do be
I am that I am
that I do be.
I've never had a place to go
to ease my troubled mind before
Now here I am, singing out my soul
From the sheer joy that it's bringing to be whole
No, I've never had a place to go
to ease my troubled mind before
All in the joy that it brings me to be whole
I MADE IT TO HEAVEN
God, I am glad to be here.
I can't tell you...
I am
I am that I am
I am
I do be
I am that I am
that I do be.
I've never had a place to go
to ease my troubled mind before
Now here I am, singing out my soul
From the sheer joy that it's bringing to be whole
No, I've never had a place to go
to ease my troubled mind before
All in the joy that it brings me to be whole
I MADE IT TO HEAVEN
God, I am glad to be here.
I can't tell you...

Caught my mood and made me sway back and forth and smile. Sounds like a long, intricate path to get to here, but well worth it, in my opinion. The vocals are excellent, with some great expressive singing throughout. The music is nicely spaced and placed - restrained enough to give the voices free reign, but vital and nicely present. Joy, indeed! Thanks to everybody involved. Inspirational. Peace.
