Mistreatment of children... &mdash 06/01/07 - 09:47:48 PM
...is one of the things in this world that drives me nuts...part of the reason I'm in the business I'm in...

Thanks for doing this, McBoy.

Aside from being a nice idea and a nice gesture, it's also a tune that combines groove, fire, and a bit of elegance... Worth listening to... Four minutes long and I wish it were longer...

Ed

The Fusion Groove is good..... &mdash 06/02/07 - 03:26:10 AM
Having just sat through two live concert videos of Weather Report from the 70's and then, this morning listened to this mix it just seemed as though I was listening to the next video soundtrack, only minus messrs. Shorter, Zawinul and Pastorius.

Organ instead of synth and a funky Django-style electric lead sound means that this sound fills its own Fusion niche, but that's part of the 'good'.

Jazz Fusion can reach the heights of the legendry ensemble and this goes a long way there.

I for one am awaiting my next infusion of jazz from the McBoy stable.

Very well done.

Paul.

PS - The sentiment of the song is good but the parents should never have left the three kids alone. The episode is just a sorry mess.

hope &mdash 06/02/07 - 03:27:16 AM
Great that you remind us of this. May this focus from all over the world help bring Madeleine home, and also keep the light on for every child that experiences the same.

Now to the music...

I attended a concert in my hometown recently with Robben Ford. He is one of my favorite musicians, and he and the band delivered a great show here:)

You show some of the same qualities, and I have sometimes wondered if you are a well known artist that I know under some other name...;) Because what you put up here for us to listen to and enjoy is very powerful and professional stuff mcboy. If this recording was done live... wow.... I'd love to be there:)

Any chance you're coming to Norway to play a gig or five?

That hits the spot &mdash 06/02/07 - 06:40:04 AM
on both levels, awareness of both the children and the music. That strat sound, I presume, is sounding just great.

worthy &mdash 06/02/07 - 06:51:25 AM
Worthy cause, worthy tune. Like the way you alternate between coolness and a meatier, 'diggin'-in sound...

Almost a Gorge Benson &mdash 06/02/07 - 07:17:09 PM
feel. I can almost hear singin with the lead. Nice downtown feel. were you can get the feeling of being lost. Nice selection and terrific improv and groove. Like how the bass is being used with the percussion and the list goes on.

Nice jammin! Great idea to spread the word!

As a father &mdash 06/02/07 - 07:41:22 PM
of a child about Madelienes age I am deeply affected by circumstances such as this one. With the current global connectivity via the internet and media it may be helpful that at least her picture can be distributed to a wider segment of the population. Awareness is certainly one of the key elements in addressing this type of crime.

McBoy - your playing on this is excellent. You can lay it out!
All the best,
Norm

Madelienne &mdash 06/02/07 - 07:54:33 PM
Admittedly I know very little of this story except for the initial news report. I will certainly check out the blog.

Playing music is much more enjoyable if there is someone there to listen.

Using your talent- &mdash 06/02/07 - 07:45:25 PM
to spread the word like this is a fine thing to do. Everyone else is throwing out artists & genres this reminds them of, but I can just say, " If all jazz sounded this good, I'd listen to a lot more of it.

The man will play that thing.
Thank you. I love the intro. I love the cause.
I have a three year old girl and man if somebody took her...wow
poor little girl and mom and dad...
you got to watch em so close these days.

Great playing...reminds me a bit of John McLaughlin when he jamed with MILES and a touch of Wes.
Nice groove.
Love your guitar

Violence against children is THE big taboo, and rightly so. I'm not a praying kind of person, but I have spent many moments thinking and hoping about this little girl. I hope that this music makes some difference - beautiful as it is.
Peace,
Neil

Great Playing &mdash 07/11/07 - 04:41:45 PM
I really like your playing.Sounds like Scofield,Robben Ford,Jimmy Herring-but you have your own sound.
When you are playing that "outside" stuff are you thinking 1/2 step away, tritone away, diminished scale,or just doing it by ear?
You are a great guitar player!

Great sound &mdash 07/19/07 - 08:46:57 AM
McBoy, this is a super track. Your playing sounds very intuitive and lyrical, and not at all forced. And the organ pad makes an excellent bed for your great soloing.

OK, the applause was a nice touch.

Holy smoke! &mdash 06/07/08 - 05:07:19 AM
That's some incredible playing! Very professional sound, but better, a melodic sense that seems often lacking in a lot of technically good players.

I would love for you to play a guitar solo for one of my tunes!
